Oh, hello there! I’m Wendy. Thanks for stopping by. Do help yourself to a cool beverage
Refreshed? Good, good… So here lies my first attempt at a “real” blog, outside of tumblr/livejournal-type dealies. So please bare with me, as this will be an ongoing learning experience for me. (OMG – where are the bouncing mood icons?! haha)
Thankfully, I married a graphic artist/web designer. Hooopefully he’ll give me some tips. Hear that, Michael? Good.
Here are some fun(?) facts about me, in no particular order:
I’m vegan. I’ve been vegetarian since high school (1995 or so – yeah, I’m old, get off my lawn!), and vegan since 2003. My first tattoo was the word “vegan” on my wrist. Yeeeah, I’m pretty dedicated.
I’m a momma to twin girls. This was the initial reason behind starting this blog. I’ve been wanting to have my own creative outlet for a long time and my little rosebuds finally gave me a reason to put up or shut up. Way to go, kiddos!
I don’t like cats. That’s right, I said it. Feel free to flag my blog for blasphemy.
I have a few tattoos. Not nearly as many as I would like to have. I’m way too indecisive.
I have an unhealthy attachment to stuffed animals. In particular, turtles and sheep. Identical turtles and sheep. You’ll see.
I got to meet/work out with Richard Simmons. He was ~*sparkly*~.

Congrats! Life with twins sure is an adventure!! Love your line about cats…I hate them too
Thanks! I’m terrified & excited at the same time!
And I commend you on your shared hatred of felines. haha
Hiya – my twins are just about to arrive (well, it’s likely to be on the 21st of this month). I’ll be reading about your adventures.
Ah! Exciting! Twins are definitely a lot of work, but now that they’re here, I couldn’t imagine life with just one.
Wendy, I have drooled over your tattoos for a couple of years now and, respecting your wishes, I did not use it as a base for my tattoo (I used Marcel Dzama instead, lol). Of course the content and color of your tattoo is gorgeous, I was wondering if you could give some advice about the composition of my second arm’s tattoo. I wasn’t thinking about that at the time but now I’m not sure how to tie them in. Obviously, I have to continue branches and trees but that’s all I am sure of. I’d entertained having a similar girl playing with a jack in the box sitting against the bottom of what would be a of the tree the other branch came from with maybe a crow or bat coming out of the box. I don’t expect a sketch, just verbally a suggestion as this is my Christmas gift and I have to come up with something soon.
Thank you and great work!
Michele
Woah, thanks — I’m flattered! To be honest, my tattoo was very poorly planned out. I originally just had the word “vegan” on my left wrist, then added one branch with 2 birds on my right wrist. I wanted to add more, so I just kind of put the cage/lock thing together… In hindsight, I wish I had done things differently (right-side up!), but it’s a little too late now. haha
I just checked yours out & I think it looks pretty rad. The placement is good & I like the simplicity of it. I’m no artist, so I really can’t say what would look best as an add-on. Just go with whatever you think works. If you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters.
Thanks for replying. Your tattoo came out very well, it certainly looks carefully planned and I like that you can look at it right side up. I’ll play around with drawing on a photo of both arms out and see what happens. Anyway, you’re all over the internet so you did well! Take care, Michele
Ih, I was supposed to send you a photo! I’m going to dl to Flicker instead: http://www.flickr.com/photos/clunkygirl
Your girls are precious and beautiful! I have twin baby girls as well. I stumbled across your blog today. Interesting to note that you are a vegan. I’m actually trying it out for a month. Maybe you can give me some pointers and recipes. Toodles!
Aw, thanks! Veganism isn’t nearly as hard as most people assume. The most challenging part is finding vegan options when dining out, but once you know which places offer veg-friendly food, you’re good to go. As far as recipes, I’d say a good place to start is vegweb.com. There’s a ton of searchable recipes with helpful ratings/reviews. Oh, and don’t think you have to give up “treats” and eat kale all day. It’s so easy to veganise popular candy/desserts. (See my instagram for plenty of photos of vegan “junk food”! http://web.stagram.com/n/veganwendy/)
Good luck! If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask!
