Conscious Box recently offered a special “bonus” box featuring companies that participate in 1% for the Planet — an organization that teams up with companies to have them donate 1% of their sales to sustainably-oriented nonprofits.
The box was a one-time purchase of $25 (but I got it for $12.95 with a coupon code!). It was promised to have a retail value of over $50 and $5 of the proceeds from each box would go right to 1% for the Planet. Coolio.
So let’s see what was inside, shall we?
Seattle for Kindle Sleeve by Run Run Run – Okay, this pouch/sleeve thing retails for $27.50, so this product alone covers the cost of the box! I don’t have a Kindle, but this can be used for lots of things. It has a nice faux suede/plush lining with a smaller inner zippered compartment. This would be a nice little bag to protect random trinkets and whatnot when traveling. Or a makeup bag. Or… anything.
Tahoe Trail Bar – I’ve never heard of this brand before. I’m guessing it’s comparable to a Clif bar? It sounds awesome — peanut butter, chocolate chunks, coconut, etc. It’s vegan & gluten-free. I think I might have to save this for a day when I’m actually being kinda active though, since it’s pretty high-calorie (310, dang!).
People Towel – I got one of these in a previous Conscious Box and I use it all the time, so I was happy to get another one. I keep it on my countertop to catch the drips associated with preparing/washing the girls’ bottles. I used paper towels for this before, but this makes so much more sense. I just toss it in with my laundry every few days and it’s good to go. 🙂 It’s made with organic cotton and eco-friendly dyes.
Surf Sweets Fruity Hearts – I’ve had Surf Sweets’ jelly beans before, but not these. They’re watermelon & cherry flavored heart-shaped gummy candies. Organic, vegan, and gluten-free! I know I’m going to like them, so I kinda wish the package was a little larger… This is a teeny little Trick-or-Treat sized bag. Boo.
Fly Ties Hair Ties – I have short hair, so I have no use for these… However, I’m sure my girls will eventually have a need for stuff like this, so I’ll put ’em away until the need arises.
Tonewood Maple Wafer – This is a little hand-crafted maple wafer from Vermont. It’s made of pure maple sugar and was quite tasty.
Chia Squeeze by Mamma Chia – I’m kinda scared to try this. It sounds super good for you — high in fiber, omega 3’s, etc… But seeds and fruit in a pouch… Ehhh… I’ll definitely give it a try though. I mean, if I don’t like it I can always give it to the girls. 😉
Stur Mint Cucumber Water Enhancer – Unsweetened, all natural. No calories, no sugar. I think I’d be more into this if it were a different flavor. Mint water just doesn’t sound appetizing to me. I’m afraid it’s going to be like drinking water after you brush your teeth. They had a lot more *fruity* flavors on Amazon that sounded so much better. Waahhhh.
So that was the Conscious Box 1% for the Planet box. Overall, I was pretty happy with it. Most (possibly all?) of the items were vegan (a BIG plus) and most are things that I’ll actually use.
Disclosure: I paid for this box. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post contains affiliate/referral links.
