I’ve been wanting to try a Vegan Cuts Snack Box for a long time, so when they recently offered to send me the May box to review I was beyond excited.
What’s a Vegan Cuts Snack Box, you say? Well, it’s only one of the best subscription boxes out there, that’s what! For $19.95/month, they send you a box chock full o’ vegan goodness. Each box includes 7-10 vegan (and mostly gluten-free) products like treats, household essentials, beauty products, etc. Of course, the majority of the items are snacks, hence the name. Hey, no complaints here!
Okay, so let’s see what’s inside!
This cute little information card listed all of the products in this month’s box. The theme was “summer fun time”. Sounds… fun!
Graw Foods Banana Coconut Grawnola Bar – First up was this raw energy bar. I just received one of these in this month’s Conscious Box as well, but in a different flavor. That bar was pretty tasty, so I assumed this one would be too. As predicted, I was NOT disappointed. Don’t let the “raw/sprouted” thing scare you… These are super satisfying AND delicious.
Ginnybakes Dreamy Vegan Delight Cookies – I was excited to try these cookies because… well, they’re cookies! Sadly, they were kind of on the hard side. (Like “Am I going to break my teeth?” hard.) I did notice a blurb on the package about not using preservatives and freezing them if they’re not promptly eaten. However, I have no idea when they were made, so I don’t know if lack of freshness was the culprit here. BUT, being the cookie fiend that I am, I crunched on… teeth be damned. The flavor (coconut & vanilla) was pretty darn good. I’d be curious to try them again to see if I just got a bad batch.
Earnest Eats Dark Choco Mint Bar – Yet another product I’ve gotten in a past Conscious Box — But I’m not complaining! I had the Dark Choco Espresso one (which is oddly listed on the info card), and it was delicious. I’ve yet to try this flavor, but I’m sure it’s just as good.
Angie’s Sweet and Salty Classic Kettle Corn – Mike & I go to a pumpkin festival/carnival every autumn and we always make it a point to buy fresh kettle corn. Nothing beats fresh-from-the-kettle, but this is a close second. SO freakin’ good. Yum!
Vigilant Eats Superfood Cereal – I’ll be honest, I’m a little scared to try this one. It’s packed with lots of healthy ingredients, which is fine, but the preparation makes me kinda skeptical. It says to add cold water & eat. Cold water + oats sounds like a weird, soggy mess to me. Hopefully I’m wrong! I’ll update this once I work up the courage to give it a go. 😉
Crystal Body Deodorant Towelette – This is actually pretty neat. At first I was like, “Uh, why would I want to wipe a towelette in my pits instead of a regular old stick of deodorant?”. Then I realized that it’s perfect to take with you on those hot, humid summer days when you KNOW you’re gonna start smellin’ funky as your previously applied deo wears off. Kinda wishing I had more of these now…
Teeccino’s Herbal Coffee Hazelnut Tee-Bag – I’ve gotten a similar sample from this company recently, but it was loose grounds that I had to put in my “make your own K-cup” attachment thingy. This “tee-bag” version seems SO much easier. I love hazelnut, so I’m definitely looking forward to trying this.
Saffron Road’s Organic Crunchy Chickpeas Bombay Spice – This bag was HUGE. Six full ounces of chickpea snackin’. Sadly, I wasn’t a fan. They were fairly spicy, which wasn’t a problem. Actually, I kinda figured I wouldn’t be into these when I pulled them out of the box. I guess it’s because I’m more of a “sweets” person when it comes to snacks. I’ve seen other reviews where people LOVED these, so it’s just a matter of personal preference. Different strokes for different folks & all that. 🙂
Journey Bar Sesame Ginger Savory Nutrition Bar – This was surprisingly good. I was a little intimidated by the “made with real herbs and spices” thing, but it wasn’t as scary as it sounds. The sesame/ginger flavor overpowers the other ingredients, which was a relief. It wasn’t until after the bar was gone that I noticed a hint of onion & garlic. I guess that was the “savory” part. I think it would have been better without it, but what can ya do… It was all part of the Journey. Ha… Ha…
Bare Fruit Crunchy Apple Chips – The last snack offered something for the fruit fans — apple chips! The package touts that it contains “1 apple in every bag”. I’ve yet to try these, but how bad can they be? They’re apples!
So there it is. My first Vegan Cuts box. I would love to buy a subscription, but I’m not sure I can convince Mike to let me sign up for yet another sub box right now. (Twins are NOT cheap!) However, I’d be more than willing to review future boxes, should Vegan Cuts be generous enough to send me some. 😉
