Austin Lloyd is a great new subscription box for little ones. They offer unique, high-end toys selected specifically for your child’s current “play level”. When I first got a peek at the list of brands they partner with — Hape, Melissa & Doug, Haba, etc. — I knew it was going to be a fun box!
Austin Lloyd is committed to providing toys that are not only engaging, but also bpa & phthalate free. None of the toys will ever require batteries and the total value of the items will always exceed the cost of your box. Awesome! Oh, did I mention that they also give you the option of sending your toys back once you’ve outgrown them so they can donate them to a charity? Yep. They do that too. 🙂
Every box contains 4-5 toys and at least 1 book. Month-to-month subscriptions are $49.99 (or less with a 6-month commitment) and shipping is always free.
The box I received was for a play level of 13-18 months. (They range from 0 months to 3 years.) My girls just turned 16 months today, so this box was perfect. Oh, and November’s theme was Thanksgiving. — Alright, let’s dig in!
The box was shipped via Priority Mail and was pretty damn BIG. (Not that size always matters… But it was a good sign.) The packaging inside was super cute and the personalized gift tag was a nice touch. 🙂
Hape First Shapes Puzzle – This is a great toy for teaching the girls their shapes and colors. Right now they just kinda throw everything we hand them, but hopefully they’ll start seeing that toys are more fun when they’re not flying through the air. *fingers crossed* All of the products that Hape sells in the US meet or exceed all safety standards. The paints are non-toxic and the wood is from responsibly managed forests. (Amazon Price: $9.87)
The First Thanksgiving by Nancy Davis – My girls LOVE these lift-the-flap board books! This one tells the story of the first Thanksgiving in a simple, kid-friendly way. The illustrations are bright and inviting for little ones. The “flaps” are scattered throughout the book and help the story come to life. Although I’m not down with the whole “hunting” thing, the little (caught) fishies hidden under the flaps are just too damn cute. — I’ll just tell the girls they plan on releasing them. Oh, and that the turkey is actually a Tofurky roast. 😉 (Amazon Price: $5.39)
Fishieees!
(I opened the doors to free the turkeys. Run, turkeys, run! — Don’t look at me like that, pilgrim dude… I know what you’re planning to do with them. — Run turrr-keeeeees!)
Hape Little Ship – Another wood toy by Hape. The info card suggests using this in conjunction with the Thanksgiving board book to help the Mayflower “come to life”. The description on the box makes it seem like the boat rocks in different speeds, based on how hard you push it. I dunno if I got a dud or what, but my boat doesn’t really rock much at all. :/ Thankfully, Everly was happy just to pick it up and poke her fingers in the little “windows”. Works for me. (Amazon Price: $9.21)
Kid-O Go Car – Unlike the boat, this little guy has no trouble moving around. Kid-O’s pretty pink car is super lightweight and has rubber-coated wheels that easily glide over carpet. The body is made of BPA-, PVC- and phthalate-free plastic. The roof/handle makes it super easy for kids to transport/push it wherever they desire. That is, unless they’re like my kiddos, who just see it as an easier way to toss it around. (Amazon Price: $12.99)
Hape Early Explorer Garden Gear Stacker – I love this! (It’s not opened yet cos I’m saving it for Christmas!) Hape’s garden-themed stacker is made from Baltic Birch/Maple and colorful felt flowers & leaves. It’s painted with non-toxic child-safe finishes and the internal structure is soft & flexible to provide a safe playing experience. Honestly, I’m just diggin’ all the pretty shapes and colors. 😉 (Amazon Price: $18.21)
Both girls (Ev on the left with boat, Chloe on right with book) really enjoyed their new toys, so I’d say our Austin Lloyd box was a total win! 😀

Haha! I agree! I think I might enjoy getting their boxes/toys more than they do. 😉
