Artbotic is a new subscription box that sends you a collection of limited edition art pieces every 3 months.
Each quarter, subscribers can expect to receive a box that contains 5 to 7 items from various artists around the globe. Boxes typically include two limited edition (autographed!) prints from emerging artists, an artist-designed t-shirt, stickers, and other fun stuff. The prints even come with certificates of authenticity so you’ll know they’re the real deal. Each shipment is guaranteed to have at least $110+ in value.
Subscriptions are $65 per quarter, but for a limited time you can save $5 on your first box with coupon code “ROSEBUDS“.
Let’s see what’s in the August 2015 Artbotic box!
Everything was shipped in a small white box adorned with the Artbotic logo. (This month’s box design was created by artist Andy Eveland.)
A peek inside.
The info card refers to this as July’s box, but their website says August, so… I went with the site. Anywhooo… The card listed everything I’d find inside, as well as brief descriptions and retail prices for each item.
Little bio cards were included for each of the artists featured in August’s box. It’s definitely cool to see the faces behind the art.
Autographed “Happy Day” Print by Nicanor Aquino VII ($50) – The first print is a limited edition piece by Washington, DC artist Nicanor Aquino VII. It’s from his Cat in the Hat mash-up series where he brings popular characters (like Mickey Mouse and Cookie Monster) into the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss. The piece is printed on cold pressed archival paper with a limited run of 100. It’s also autographed and numbered (mine is 68/100).
Autographed “Head Bone” Print by Ryan Spahr ($50) – The second print (also signed and numbered) is by Pennsylvania artist Ryan Spahr, who’s known for his impressive marker drawings. “Head Bone” is a prime example of his bold, “ordered chaos” that he creates with Copic wide markers. You can check out his process here. Cool stuff!
Emilio Ramos Limited Edition Pink Pin ($18) – New York City artist Emilio Ramos is known for his bold, vivid pieces. Every so often he releases limited edition pin versions of his work that sell out within hours. The included piece is from a limited run of 100.
ThatSoDope Limited Edition T-Shirt ($25) – Michael Luckey aka “thatsodope” is an LA-based artist known for his “colorful take on iconic cartoon characters and luxury brands”. His design is featured on this t-shirt, which also has a limited run of 100.
Gamma Ray Cheaters ($11) – Artbotic also included some “non-art” stuff in the box, like these polarized sunglasses. They feature mirrored lenses, UV400 protection, and their own little drawstring pouch.
3-in-1 Clip-On Smartphone Camera Lens Kit ($8) – Ooh! I’ve always wanted to play around with one of these smartphone lenses… This kit includes three of ’em: fish-eye, macro, and wide angle. They’re designed to work on any smartphone and I’m psyched to try them out.
Artbotic is definitely a unique subscription box! If you enjoy discovering new artists before they get huge and want to build your collection from the comfort of your own home, this is totally the way to go. The value was super impressive at just over $160 — More than double the cost of the quarterly subscription. Plus, with the limited edition signed prints, who knows how much the values may increase in the future. Either way, you’re a winner. 😉
Oh, and don’t forget — you can save $5 on your first box with coupon code “ROSEBUDS“.
