bluum is one of my favorite boxes to open every month. Unlike most of the other “baby/kid” boxes, I never really know what’s going to be inside this one. The contents are based on the age of your kiddo, and boxes tend to vary a LOT. So it pretty much remains a mystery until it reaches my doorstep. (And I LOVE me some mystery boxes!)
For those who aren’t aware, bluum is a monthly subscription box for babies & kiddos from birth through age 5. Each box contains 5 or more products that are responsibly sourced, eco-friendly and often organic.
There used to be monthly “themes”, but they’ve moved away from that and instead curate each box based upon your child’s current age in months. bluum also recently joined forces with Stork Stack, so anyone who had a subscription with them (Stork Stack) will now be receiving boxes from bluum instead.
My girls are currently 24 months old, so the bluum box I received was for 25 months. Let’s see what was inside!
There’s no true information card with the box, however they do email you a list of its contents once the box has been delivered.
Busy Day Board Book with Sounds by Parragon Books – I’ve seen this in a ton of bluum reviews over the last few months, so it seems like just about everyone receives this at some point. That’s fine with me, cos this is pretty neat. It’s a book that features 45 different press and play sound buttons that correspond with the story. My girls don’t have anything like this, so it should be fun to try out. (Amazon Prices: $13.25)
B Kids Bathtime Dolphin Flute – You fill this guy halfway with water, then blow into his tail to make musical, flute-y sounds. Vary the amount of water or cover this “blow holes” for different tones. (Amazon Price: $8.00)
There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly Book & CD by Child’s Play – I never realized how morbid this book is. She swallows a horse at the end and actually DIES. Geez. I’m kinda surprised that this is still an acceptable children’s book with the tendency to over-protect kids these days and shield them from life’s harsh realities. Like a self-inflicted horse-swallowing death. Ouch. (Amazon Price: $9.31)
Soothie Suckers Immune Support Pops – These are 100% plant-based herbal pops that help support your kiddo’s immune system. They can be enjoyed frozen, or just as is. Suitable for “kids 2 to 92”. These’ll be great for the upcoming cold & flu season. (Amazon Price: $9.99)
Happy Baby Veggie Homestyle Meals Pouches – Organic meal pouches with a blend of basmati rice, coconut milk, and carrots. My girls usually love pouches, but they didn’t seem to be fans of this one. I’m not sure why, since they love coconut milk yogurt snacks… There’s still one pouch left, so we’ll see if they like it more the second time around. (Amazon Price: roughly $3.50 for 2)
I thought this was a pretty good bluum box. We’re always happy to get more books, and the sound one will be fun to try out. The immunity pops will come in handy for the upcoming cold season, the pouches are (usually) a hit, and the bath toy is cute. All totaled, the value of the August box (using Amazon prices) comes to $44.05. Definitely worth more than what I pay monthly!
