Cairn is a newer subscription box geared towards hikers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys exploring nature and doesn’t mind gettin’ a little dirty.
Fun fact: The term “cairn” actually refers to a mound of stones built as a memorial or landmark, often seen on a hilltop or along a trail. I’ve seen these before (usually smooth stones piled on top of one another), and had no idea there was an actual name for ’em. Cool!
Items in a Cairn box can include gear, accessories, apparel, snacks, skincare, and more. Boxes are just $25/month and shipping is free.
In all honesty, I’m not much of an outdoorsy girl (far from it), but I still wanted to check it out and share it with you guys. You’re welcome. 😉
First look. Their logo makes sooo much more sense now, right?
An info card listed each item as well as a short description and retail price.
Gossamer Gear Ultralight Q-Ditty Bag – Sup, Q Ditty? This little bag is an ideal hiking companion, as he weighs just .2 ounces. At 6.5″ x 5″, it’s a perfect size for storing your first aid items, snacks, and more. (Retail Price: $16)
Sea to Summit Accessory Straps – This is a pair of 1m (40 in) hook release accessory straps that can be used to attach gear to your backpack, car rack, kayak, or just about anything else that rhymes with “ack”. (Amazon Price: $8.95)
Sunsect Sunscreen & Insect Repellent – I had no idea that sunscreen and insect repellent, when used together, deactivates their effectiveness up to 50%. This is a patented formula that does both without canceling each other out. It’s water resistant, non-greasy, safe for children, and made in USA. (Amazon Price: $15.00)
Paleo Eats Cro Bar – I don’t really buy into the “paleo” fad, but this bar sounds kinda good. It’s gluten-free, dairy-free and packed with protein & fiber. It also has a ton of calories (370) and saturated fat (70%), so it’s definitely best to eat it when you’re in need of that extra energy (and will burn off that fat!). (Amazon Price: roughly $3.50)
While I’m not sure if I’ll actually be using all of the products included in it, I thought the August Cairn box had a great value and would totally be an ideal subscription for more outdoorsy folk. (All totaled, the value of August’s items comes to $43.45! Nice!)
