My mom has yet to cancel her Citrus Lane subscription (woo!), so once again we got a second box this month. Yay!
For those who still don’t know, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription for babies/kids aged newborn-5. It’s $29/month (cheaper with longer subs) and includes a nice assortment of toys, books, snacks, toiletries, etc. Sometimes they even include a gift for mom.
This month’s box didn’t really have a theme for some reason. The info card just says that they’ve “chosen a little something for everyone this month”. I’m not 100% sure what my mom aged her box up to, but I believe this is what 3 year olds were sent (or close to that).
I had seen a few spoilers and was hoping for the Green Toys Tea Set… Was I in luck? Read on!
Green Toys “Tea for Two” Tea Set – Woohoo!! Sup, cute lil’ teaset? I was so happy to see this in the box. It’s a Citrus Lane exclusive (meaning it doesn’t contain all of the pieces as the original set), but one cup & saucer for each girl works for me. This set is adorable, and like all Green Toys, it’s made with recycled milk jugs & is dishwasher safe. Oh, and food safe too! Love it! (Amazon Price: $19.19 for the full set, so maybe a $10 value for this one?)
Petit Collage Alphabet Art Cards – These are PERFECT for us right now! As with the blocks from our other box this month, I was super excited to get these for the girls. They’re both really into learning (and reading) the letters of the alphabet and I love that they include photos with the letter on one side, and the giant individual letter on the other. They’d also make cute artwork for their walls. (Amazon Price: $17.99)
Kids Shoe Horn from Jasmine Seven – Ah, the dreaded shoe horn. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone who was happy about receiving this guy. Can’t say that I blame them. I mean… A shoe horn? For a kid? Um… no. (Retail Price: $3.95)
Little Pim Language Video Digital Download – If you’ve read my blog for a bit, you know how I feel about Little Pim. If you haven’t, well… I’m not a fan. Not because the product itself is bad, but because for a while I was getting Little Pim videos and CD’s in every friggin’ sub box. I just SO got sick of seeing the stupid cartoon panda’s face and therefore have a permanent (unwarranted) dislike for him/the company. That said, we did download a video with the code from our other box. It was alright I spose. Of course, the dumb panda was all up in it and I cringed whenever I saw his stupid face. 😉
I have mixed feelings about this Citrus Lane box. I LOVE the tea set and alphabet cards, but I’m pretty disappointed with the shoe horn and the fact that they counted a video download as a 4th item. That said, I’d still consider the box a win, due to how much I love the first two products. The total value of the items is about $32, not including the download. So while it isn’t a huge value this month, it’s still more than the monthly cost of the box, so that’s always good.
If you’d like to try Citrus Lane for yourself, you can get your first box for just $9 by clicking here and using the promo code “TAKE20OFF“. I’m not sure when that code expires, but if it doesn’t work, you can still get 50% off your first box by clicking here.
*As of December 2015, Citrus Lane is no longer in business. If you’re looking for an alternative, bluum is a great choice. — You can see my reviews of them here. With bluum, you can choose your own products and build your own box. They feature the same great brands, plus you can save $10 on your first month with coupon code MRVA286CCE.
