Conscious Box August 2013 Review & Code for FREE Box!

It’s Conscious Box time again! A couple weeks ago I reviewed the Summer Mystery Box… That one was a “bonus” that you could purchase separately, in addition to your normal subscription. This one is the “regular” August (vegan) box. There’s also another “bonus” box that’s shipping in early September called the “1% Box”. I believe that one’s still for sale. But yeah, this is the normal August one. (Confused yet?)

Alrighty, let’s see what’s in my August box!

Barbara’s Organic Snackimals Cereal in Vanilla Blast – I use to be ALL ABOUT Barbara’s Puffins cereal a few years ago. I would take a little baggie of it to work every day for breakfast. I did that for like 2 years. What can I say, I like what I like. Anywhooo… I’m guessing these will be pretty tasty, based on my love of their Puffins. I like that it’s a good source of fiber too. Hopefully the girls will like ’em.

Eden Wild Berry Mix – This was kinda bland, but not awful. It’s just a mix of straight-up nuts, seeds & fruits. No salt added. It would probably be better sprinkled on yogurt, rather than eaten alone like I tried it. I like that it’s organic though, so I’d eat it again if I ever ended up with more. (I wouldn’t be psyched to eat it, mind you, but I’d eat it nonetheless.)

Barney Butter Almond Butter – I recently tried almond butter for the first time and it was pretty damn good. This one is made in an almond-only facility, so it’s completely peanut- and gluten-free. This is just the right amount for one sandwich, but I’m prolly gonna eat the packet on its own cos that’s just how I roll.

Glu6 Non-Toxic Craft Paste – This is what I love about Conscious Box. You never know what you’re gonna get! This glue is made from 100% recycled styrofoam and refers to itself as “The glue that saves planet earth”. Broken earth? Fix it with glue! Brilliant! Lofty goals aside, I’m sure this will come in handy in a couple years when the girls start getting their craft on.

Smock Paper Greeting Card – Okay, this is a little morbid. A sympathy card? Were they out of “Sorry ‘Bout Your Messy Divorce” cards? I mean… It’s pretty and all, and I dig the fact that it’s printed on bamboo paper made by a totally green company… but I can’t say I’m looking forward to using it. :/

Flora Flor-essence Rejuvenating Cream – Helps to minimize fine lines and age spots. I’m in denial about aging I have a TON of lotions, so I gave this to my mom.

Acure 100% Organic Moraccan Argan Oil – I never know what to do with oils like this, so this little guy also went to my mom. Some day I’ll figure out what do to with all these serums & oils & junk… Some day.

MRM Veggie Protein Packet – 100% all natural, vegan & gluten-free protein powder in chocolate flavor. Mix with 3oz of water or almond milk. I’m gonna break the rules and use soy milk instead. I am! Just watch me!

L’Ecuyer’s Gourmet Mexican Spice Blend – I never know what to do with spices. There’s a recipe inside the label for mango salsa, but that just doesn’t sound appealing to me. I spose I could throw it in chili or something. Eh… Spices.

Doctor’s Best Suntheanine – Oooh! I LOVE suntheanine! …said no one ever. I kinda hate when they include supplement-y things like this in boxes. At least this one has 10 caplets, so I’ll actually have a chance to see if it works. The bottle claims that it reduces stress and tension. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try… If I’m dead in a week, blame the suntheoiwjfoiejw.

Goody Good Stuff Cola Breeze Gummies – I’ve had these before in a different flavor and they were pretty good. They don’t use gelatin, which is great news for us vegans. It’s also dairy free, gluten-free, and fat free. That’s a whole lotta free.

So that’s the August (Vegan) Conscious Box. I didn’t figure out the prices for everything this month cos, well, I was lazy. (Hey, at least I’m honest!) Plus, they didn’t include an info card with the box this time and I was kinda bummed about that. It made it so much easier to review/look up everything. Ah well. I’ll live.
