Sudsy Box August 2014 Review & Discount Code!

Sudsy Box is a new subscription box that sends you 3 full-sized handmade bars of soap every other month. They also include a little extra “surprise gift” in every box (lip balm, bath salts, etc.). Awesome!

The soaps are all natural and handmade by Heidi’s Artisan Soap. They’re vegan, gluten-free and contain zero artificial colors or fragrances. Each box highlights the scents of the particular season in which it’s shipped. (You can see my reviews of the first 2 boxes here.)

Before receiving the box, I was told that the theme this time would be “Soaps from Around the World”. Let’s have a look!

As always, the box was oozing with delightful scents — though “oozing” doesn’t sound all that delightful — and included a plantable info card embedded with wildflower seeds!

As always (#2), I resisted the urge to remove the soaps from the packaging. I want to keep them as fresh as possible until I use ’em. (If I’m wrong in thinking this actually matters, well… someone let me know!) If you want to see what the soaps look like “naked”, just click the links throughout the review.

Takesumi Soap – I could smell this fella as soon as I opened the box. “Takesumi” is Japanese for “Bamboo Charcoal”, which is used for purifying the air, water, and body. The notable ingredient in this bar (and reason for the strong scent) is anise essential oil. This gives the bar a very “black licorice-y” smell. The bamboo charcoal purifies, while shea butter and olive/coconut oil help lock in moisture.

Soleseife Spa Bar – “Soleseife”, which is German for “salt water”, has been utilized in European spas for more than 100 years. Along with natural moisturizing oils and butters, this bar helps to cleanse and hydrate your skin for a spa-like experience. Eucalyptus and spearmint essential oils give it a nice, fresh scent.

Tranquility French Soap – This bar is so pretty! (Really, click the link to have a look! — It’s not even a referral link! 😉 ) It’s a beautiful purple bar with real lavender buds sprinkled on the surface. Everyone knows that lavender has calming effects, so this would be perfect to use for a pre-bedtime soak in the tub. Oh — and don’t worry, the purple color is achieved with all natural alkanet root! Nothing artificial here!

Naturally Clean Hand Sanitizer – The bonus item this month is this all natural pocket sanitizer. It contains no alcohol or synthetic ingredients (so it doesn’t dry your skin!) and is scented with natural essential oils.

As always, I’m super impressed with Sudsy Box. My only “complaint” is that the soaps last too damn long! — No really! I’m still working my way through the first box and I’m dying to try out the other bars… You get a LOT of uses out of these things. 😉
