June Birchbox time! The boxes this month all had a common theme — “adventure”!
If you’re new to Birchbox, it’s basically a monthly subscription box that sends you 4-5 grooming, beauty, and lifestyle samples for just $10/month. When you sign up you take a style quiz and they send you products that best fit your profile. Both well-known and up-and-coming brands are included, all in generously sized multi-use samples.
Their rewards program is easily one of the best around. You earn points for reviewing your samples, referring friends, and purchasing full sized products. Each review is worth 10 points and referrals are 50 points. Every 100 points gives you $10 to spend in their shop. The points rack up fast and there’s no limit to how many you can earn. The shop is full of great products including candles, cosmetics, home accessories, tea, chocolate, and lots more goodies. Since each box contains at least 5 samples, you’ll already be racking up 50 points after you review them. So it’s sort of like paying $5 per box instead of $10, since you get that $5 in store credit. Nice!
Let the June Birchbox unboxing begin!
I believe there were 3 different variations of the box design this month. I got “Say Yes”, which made me think it was wedding-themed for a sec… It was actually about saying yes to adventure. Pssh. I knew that.
As always, the info card listed each item inside the box, as well as a brief description and retail prices for the full-sized versions.
Coola SPF 50 Sport Sunscreen in Fresh Mango (~$3.20) – I picked this as my sample choice for June. I definitely don’t need any more sunscreen, but I was lured in by the mango scent. I also like that it’s made with organic ingredients and is water-resistant for up to 80 minutes.
W3ll People Expressionist Mascara ($12.50) – An all-natural mascara that helps lift and lengthen lashes without nasty chemicals or artificial dyes. I haven’t tried it yet, but it seems to have gotten pretty good reviews in the Birchbox shop.
Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel (~$3) – Another product that has great reviews on the Birchbox site. Just apply the gel to your clean/dampened face, forehead, etc. and begin massaging it in. It’ll start clumping up with dead skin cells as you continue to massage… Do it for about 3 minutes and simply rinse the ickiness away.
TOCCA Bianca Eau de Parfum (~$2) – Okay, I’m totally over getting perfume samples now, Birchbox. I feel like I’ve gotten one in almost every box this year. I do like that it has some citrus notes, and the scent isn’t bad at all… but still. Enough.
Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner (~$7) – This is a cute mini liner in “Electric Blue”. It’s waterproof, perfume free, and claims to last all day without smudging. I’m not too sure if I can pull off the color, but I’ll give it a go.
Emi Jay Hair Tie (~$2) – Bonus item! I have short hair, so I don’t have much use for this but I’m always happy to get a bonus. (More Birchbox review points!)
Overall, I was happy with my June Birchbox. It was nice to get a bonus item (even if I don’t personally use it) and I’ll probably end up trying/using everything in the box for once. The value wasn’t crazy high, but good nonetheless — roughly $30 in items for just $10. Success!
If you’d like to sign up for Birchbox, new customers can get 100 points when you sign up with this link and use coupon code “BBJETBLUE10“– 100 points is equal to $10.00 to spend in their shop. Since the box itself is $10/month, it’s like getting your first one for FREE!
Disclosure: I purchased this box on my own. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate/referral links.
