It’s December 2016 bluum unboxing time!
If you’re not aware, bluum (yes, with a lowercase b) is a monthly subscription box for babies & kiddos from birth through age 5. Each box contains four or more products that are responsibly sourced, eco-friendly and often organic. The contents are based on the age of your kiddo in months, so there are many variations in the boxes that are sent in each shipment. (I don’t think I’ve seen any two boxes that were exactly the same.)
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
bluum now gives you the option to choose the exact items that you’ll receive in your box! When you log into your account you’ll be given a chance to pick one item from each of the available categories for that month’s box (food, toys, books, etc). If you’d rather be surprised, you can forgo picking and have them choose the items as they did in the past. They also give you the choice of opting out of the “mom” items, which I love because I kinda hated getting things for myself in a kid’s box. 😉
Subscriptions are $34/month or less with multi-month commitments. For a limited time, you can save $10 on your first month with coupon code “MRVA286CCE“.
My girls are currently 51 months old (remember — they go by months), so the bluum box I received was geared towards a 52 month (4 year old) child.
Let’s see what’s in my December 2016 bluum box!
The familiar red box!
A peek inside!
There’s usually a generic insert card indicating the current month and age range of your child, but mine was missing this time. Once your box is delivered, you’ll be able to log in to your account and view a list of its contents on their site.
Mudpuppy Garden Fairies Block Puzzle ($11.62) – This cute puzzle consists of 9 colorful blocks with images printed on each side. There are six different puzzles/designs in all — featuring whimsical fairies, flowers, and happy insect friends. The cubes are printed with nontoxic, soy-based inks and contain 90% recycled paper.
Babyganics Alcohol-Free Foaming Hand Sanitizer ($4.21) – An alcohol-free, mandarin scented foaming hand sanitizer that kills 99.9% of germs with no residue. The formula is free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, dyes, and other icky chemicals. I’ll be tossing this in my bag ASAP!
Oh, the Places You’ll Go! by Dr. Seuss ($10) – The classic Seuss book about pushing through life’s many ups and downs without giving up on your dreams. An inspirational book for any age — though my preschoolers will likely be more impressed by the colorful, whimsical illustrations that I also fell in love with as a kid. 😉
Rich Frog Monkey Sponge ($10.99) – A monkey-shaped bath sponge that dries quickly thanks to its soft mesh material. He also has a sewn-in loop for easy hanging/drying. He’s cute, but not quite $10.99(!) cute.
December’s bluum box wasn’t nearly as awesome as last month’s offering, but it was still decent. We’ll likely use all of the items, but nothing really “wowed” me. The total retail (well, Amazon) value was almost $37. Again, not awful, but not awesome either.
Remember — if you’d like to sign up for bluum, you can save $10 on your first month with coupon code “MRVA286CCE“!
