bluum time! — I’m always unsure of whether or not to capitalize the “B”. I feel like it looks like a mistake if I don’t, but that’s how they have it on their site, so… I guess lowercase it is. Anywhoo… Here’s January’s bluum box!
If you’re not aware, bluum is a monthly subscription box for babies & kiddos from birth through age 5. Each box contains five or more products that are responsibly sourced, eco-friendly and often organic. The contents are based on the age of your kiddo in months, so boxes tend to vary a LOT. I really love this about bluum, since I’m never really sure just what I’ll see when I open their big red box.
My girls are currently 29 months old, so the bluum box I received was geared towards a 30 month old child.
Let’s see what’s in the box!
As always, there’s no printed info card… just a generic insert indicating the month. Once your box is delivered, they email you a list of its contents. You can also find it when you login to their site (again, after the box is delivered.)
Dot and Dash Lots of Love Book ($4.99) – A colorful, interactive book that includes a collection of stickers to be placed in the appropriate spots throughout the book. The illustrations are bright & whimsical and I like that it’s sort of Valentine’s Day related, but not enough that it can’t be enjoyed all year.
Re-Play Divided Plate (~$5.00) – We’ve gotten other items from Re-Play before and I like ’em. They’re similar to Green Toys in that they’re also made from recycled milk jugs. This plate is PVC, BPA, & phthalate free, as well as dishwasher safe.
Crocodile Creek At the Circus Placemat ($6.08) – We got a similar placemat from bluum not too long ago, so I’m not too thrilled to get another one so soon. Plus, I’m not too keen on the circus in general. Ah well, at least it matches the plate? Meh.
Klorane Eye Makeup Remover Lotion ($13.44) – Not too thrilled to get such a high value “mom” item when there are only 3 items for my girls. I’d much rather have gotten something else for them. I’m sure this is a decent makeup remover n’ all, but I’d rather receive it in a beauty box.
Avene Cold Cream Hand Cream ($11.93) – Another item I wouldn’t mind getting in a beauty box, not a box for a toddler. My hands are dry as hell and I’ll definitely use this, but I really wish it was something for the girls to use instead.
Needless to say, I’m too too happy with this month’s bluum box. Most of the value came from “mom” items, which isn’t what I’d expect in a box designed for toddlers. One mom item is fine, but two? Um… no. Especially when there are only 3 “kid” items. The total value of everything isn’t bad ($41.44 using Amazon prices), but only about $16 of it is from non-mom items. Not cool, bluum. 🙁
