January bluum time!
If you’re not aware, bluum is a monthly subscription box for babies & kiddos from birth through age 5. Each box contains four or more products that are responsibly sourced, eco-friendly and often organic. The contents are based on the age of your kiddo in months, so there are many variations in the boxes that are sent in each shipment. (I don’t think I’ve seen any two boxes that were exactly the same.)
bluum (yes, with a lowercase b) now gives you the option to choose the exact items that you’ll receive in your box! When you log into your account you’ll be given a chance to pick one item from each of the available categories for that month’s box (food, toys, books, etc). If you’d rather be surprised, you can forgo picking and have them choose the items as they did in the past. They also give you the choice of opting out of the “mom” items, which I love because I kinda hated getting things for myself in a kid’s box. 😉
Subscriptions are $34/month or less with multi-month commitments. For a limited time, you can save $10 on your first month with coupon code “MRVA286CCE“.
My girls are currently 40 months old (remember — they go by months), so the bluum box I received was geared towards a 41 month (3 1/2 year) old child.
Let’s see what’s in my January 2016 bluum box!
The familiar red box!
A peek inside!
As always, there’s no printed info card… just a generic insert indicating the current month and age range of your child. Once your box is delivered, you’ll be able to log in to your account and view a list of its contents on their site. Since I chose the items myself, I knew exactly what would be in the box.
IlluStory Junior ($19.97) – This is so cool! It’s a kit that includes everything your child needs to make their own little story book — and have it printed too! Just use the provided story sheets and markers to illustrate and write a story, then use the pre-paid envelope to mail it in to have it printed in a soft cover book format. Such a fun project for little ones!
“Snow” Roly Poly Box Book ($10.25) – I had a little trouble getting a decent photo of this “box book”, so I gotta say that it’s much cooler in person. The box is unraveled “page” by page, revealing a new pop-out scene with each roll. My girls loved rolling it out and back in while saying goodbye to each animal as they disappeared inside. The puffin “page” was the cutest, with three little 3-D fish popping out of the water. Adorable!
Q’s Race to the Top On-the-Go Pack ($7.99) – These neat question and action cards are designed to “promote social skills, better behavior, balance and coordination”. There are 90 cards in all, comprised of 3 different categories. They come in a convenient metal tin, perfect for on the go and keeping your kids entertained in waiting rooms, restaurants, and during car trips.
Schylling Classic Tin Kaleidoscope ($8.10) – My girls had never seen a kaleidoscope, so I thought this would be fun to show them. I love that it’s actually made of tin and not cheap plastic or cardboard. I tried to get a cool photo of the inside, but the above shot was the best I could do. 🙂
I’m super happy with my January bluum box! Of course, it totally helps that I got to choose the items myself. 😉 January’s total retail value (using Amazon prices) comes to $46.31. Nice!!
