It’s March 2017 bluum unboxing time!
If you’re not aware, bluum (yes, with a lowercase b) is a monthly subscription box for babies & kiddos from birth through age 5. Each box contains four or more products that are responsibly sourced, eco-friendly and often organic. The contents are based on the age of your kiddo in months, so there are many variations in the boxes that are sent in each shipment. (I don’t think I’ve seen any two boxes that were exactly the same.)
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
bluum now gives you the option to choose the exact items that you’ll receive in your box! When you log into your account you’ll be given a chance to pick one item from each of the available categories for that month’s box (food, toys, books, etc). If you’d rather be surprised, you can forgo picking and have them choose the items as they did in the past. They also give you the choice of opting out of the “mom” items, which I love because I kinda hated getting things for myself in a kid’s box. 😉
Subscriptions are $34/month or less with multi-month commitments. For a limited time, you can save $10 on your first month with coupon code “MRVA286CCE“.
My girls are currently 54 months old (remember — they go by months), so the bluum box I received was geared towards a 55 month (4 year old) child.
Let’s see what’s in my March 2017 bluum box!
The big red bluum box.
A peek inside!
As always, there’s no actual printed info card… just a generic insert indicating the current month and age range of your child. Once your box is delivered, you’ll be able to log in to your account and view a list of its contents on their site.
Melissa & Doug Lace and Trace Shapes ($9.92)
I’m always happy to add more Melissa & Doug toys to our collection. I chose this because my girls are still learning to perfect the art of “lace & trace” and I knew they’d be into the fun shapes — especially the pizza triangle. 😉 The set comes with 5 wooden lacing boards, along with 5 color-coordinated laces.
Stephen Joseph Bath Mitt & Bath Crayons ($10.91)
My kiddos are currently all about butterflies and they love bath crayons, so this was item an obvious choice. The adorable butterfly bath mitt includes a suction cup to attach it to the bath tub wall, as well as a set of 4 colorful non-toxic bath crayons with plastic holders. The mitt is made of 100% cotton and is machine washable.
Fresh Baby Kid’s Cutlery Set with Travel Case ($9.95)
I had gotten a similar set of Fresh Baby utensils in a bluum box a while back and assumed that this set was the same one. To my surprise, instead of having plastic handles like the other set, these ones were ALL stainless steel. Very cool! Each utensil features an assortment of food items etched onto its handle — including carrots, which my oldest (by a minute) daughter is obsessed with. 😀
Melissa & Doug On the Go ColorBlast! Activity Book ($4.99)
More Melissa & Doug! This mess-free sea life themed book includes 24 pages of seek-and-find coloring activities. The “no mess” marker reveals a colorful world of hidden objects and patterns without the worry of inky fingers. Great for keeping in the car or bringing to restaurants to keep kiddos busy while waiting for their meals.
I’m glad I decided to choose my own items for this month’s bluum box. We’ll use every single thing and may even have to pick up a second set of those neat utensils. 🙂 The total value (using Amazon prices) was $35.77… Right in line with the cost of the monthly subscription. While the value wasn’t crazy high, I did choose the items and we’ll definitely use them, so I’m happy. 🙂
Remember — if you’d like to sign up for bluum, you can save $10 on your first month with coupon code “MRVA286CCE“!
