I was excited when my November bluum box was delivered before I even got a shipping notification. Unfortunately, the excitement ended there…
If you’re new here, bluum is a monthly subscription box for babies & kiddos from birth through age 5. Each box contains five or more products that are responsibly sourced, eco-friendly and often organic. The contents are based on the age of your kiddo in months, so boxes tend to vary a LOT. I really love this about bluum, since I’m never really sure just what I’ll see when I open their big red box.
My girls are currently 27 months old, so the bluum box I received was for 28 months.
What was in the box? Let’s see!
The Adventurers Board Book ($4.99) – I’m always happy to get new books for the girls. This one tells the tale of a little girl who, along with her favorite toys, goes on a series of adventures. There’s a new adventure on each page and the book ends with the girl falling asleep with her toys, wiped out from all their travels.
Smarty Pants Adult Gummy Vitamins ($32.99) – While I appreciate the fact that this is a high-value item, I don’t appreciate that it’s for ADULTS. An occasional “mom gift” is cool, but when it’s the highest value item in the box, ehhh… Not so much. (Especially since this contains gelatin and I won’t be able to get any use out of it anyway.) It’s a quality product, but NOT for a kid’s box. Total bummer, bluum.
PuzzlePatch Peek-a-Boo Carnival Puzzle ($6.77) – A cute puzzle with little “lift-the-flap” pieces hidden throughout. My girls love both puzzles and lift-the-flap books, so this should be a hit.
Boogie Mist ($7.00) – We love Boogie Mist in this house, so this is always good to get. That said, we have like 2 or 3 floating around from past subscription boxes so I wasn’t too excited to see this. It does work well and it’ll save me from having to buy more when we run out, so I guess I can’t complain.
While the total value this month (using Amazon prices) was an impressive $51.75, a big chunk of it was for the (adult) vitamins. Without the vitamins, the total is $18.76. Not quite as impressive. This is actually the first time that I wasn’t thrilled with my bluum box. All of the ones I’ve gotten in the past have been great, so getting one so disappointing was… well, disappointing. Hopefully this was just an off month and December’s box makes up for it. My fingers are crossed.

I received a similar box this month and I agree it was a big disappointment. Most local homeless shelters are in need of vitamins, so maybe you can donate them?

Bummer. I’ve always been happy with their boxes so it was definitely disappointing. My husband actually claimed the vitamins already, but good idea. 🙂

My 2 year old girl got this exact same box with the exception of the vitamins. We got an “On the Construction Site” puzzle book. For boys. I’d rather have gotten the vitamins. I’m sending the book back. Bluum was terrible this month.

Oh man. They really dropped the ball this month. 🙁

I am thoroughly unimpressed with Bluum. My friend bought me a Bluum trial and I noticed, too late, that the validation period was only three months long. I postponed redeeming it because I wanted to wait until after Christmas and my daughter’s birthday. I realized it was my fault for not noticing the validation period, but I thought they might understand and extend it (by just one month!). They wrote back that they could not extend the validation period but I could pay for it with a small discount if I wanted. I couldn’t believe they wouldn’t understand that a busy mom of two kids might need a bit more time to redeem. Plus, couldn’t they simply extend it for a month and give me a break? I would not recommend this company to anyone. If they can’t be understanding to their core customer base, I don’t think they deserve the business.
