My May 2016 Book of the Month Club selection is here!
If you’re unaware, Book of the Month (BOTM) is a subscription that sends you a new hardcover book as chosen by a panel of judges every month. You’ll be given a choice between five different book selections which will be revealed on their site on the first of the month.
The books will include a broad range of genres and offer a mix of both fiction and nonfiction titles. The Book of the Month team reviews thousands of submissions from dozens of publishers, and works closely with the BOTM judges to select exceptional books that they think members will enjoy.
Subscriptions are $16.99/month or less with multi-month commitments (as low as $8.99/month for the annual plan). — For a limited time (through May 31st) you can save 30% on a 3-month plan with coupon code “MAY30“. You can also choose a month-to-month plan and get your first box for just $8.99 (no coupon code needed!).
Let’s check out my May 2016 Book of the Month Club box!
The box!
A peek inside.
As always, the book was shrink-wrapped to a sturdy piece of cardboard to keep it from getting damaged in transit.
A Ring Pop! — I believe this is the first time that Book of the Month has included a fun little “extra” like this. The enclosed card offered a proposal to “say yes to great books”. Cute! They’re also running a contest on social media involving posting a photo of yourself with your selected book and Ring Pop. Winners will win 3 free months.
The box included a note from Liberty Hardy, one of the guest judge’s for May, who chose the book I received — “I Let You Go” by Clare Mackintosh.
I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh – For some reason, I’m always drawn to books involving circumstances that scare the bajeezus out of me. Like this one, which begins with one of my biggest fears — a child slipping away and running into the street — right into the path of an oncoming car. A car that continues to drive on…
From Amazon:
On a rainy afternoon, a mother’s life is shattered as her son slips from her grip and runs into the street . . .
I Let You Go follows Jenna Gray as she moves to a ramshackle cottage on the remote Welsh coast, trying to escape the memory of the car accident that plays again and again in her mind and desperate to heal from the loss of her child and the rest of her painful past.
At the same time, the novel tracks the pair of Bristol police investigators trying to get to the bottom of this hit-and-run. As they chase down one hopeless lead after another, they find themselves as drawn to each other as they are to the frustrating, twist-filled case before them.
The hardcover version of this book is currently selling on Amazon for $17.77, so you’re getting a much better deal with Book of the Month! — If you join now, you can get your first month for just $8.99 or you can get a 3-month subscription for 30% off when you use coupon code “MAY30” by 5/31/16.

This is the book that I picked too. Not something I would normally read, but having recently read Girl on the Train, I was in the mood for something like this.

I looks like it could be a good read… I just wish I had time to read books. #bloggerproblems 😉
