Okay, let’s check out my October 2016 Book of the Month box!
The box!
A peek inside.
As always, the book itself was shrink-wrapped to a sturdy piece of cardboard to keep it from getting damaged in transit.
Included was a note from Liberty Hardy, one of the guest judges for October, who chose the book I received — “Good as Gone” by Amy Gentry. A bookmark is also included every month which features a new book/reading-themed quote.
Good as Gone by Amy Gentry – I don’t typically go for mysteries, but this sounded like a pretty good read. Of course it also involves a crime element, which is the genre that I’m usually more drawn to.
From Amazon:
Thirteen-year-old Julie Whitaker was kidnapped from her bedroom in the middle of the night, witnessed only by her younger sister. Her family was shattered, but managed to stick together, hoping against hope that Julie is still alive. And then one night: the doorbell rings. A young woman who appears to be Julie is finally, miraculously, home safe. The family is ecstatic—but Anna, Julie’s mother, has whispers of doubts. She hates to face them. She cannot avoid them. When she is contacted by a former detective turned private eye, she begins a torturous search for the truth about the woman she desperately hopes is her daughter.
See? Sounds intriguing, no? 🙂
October’s box also included a box of “After Book Mints” to enjoy after a good reading sesh.
I’ve finally started getting back into the habit of reading every night before bed, so I’m enjoying Book of the Month a lot more these days. It’s been fun going through the stack of BOTM books I’ve gotten over the last year. 😉 Remember — through the end of the month, you can can get your first book for only $5! — Just use coupon code “READ5“.
