Book of the Month Club (BOTM) is a subscription that sends you a new hardcover book as chosen by a panel of judges every month.
You’ll be given a choice between five different book selections which will be revealed on their site on the first of the month.
The books will include a broad range of genres and offer a mix of both fiction and nonfiction titles. The Book of the Month team reviews thousands of submissions from dozens of publishers, and works closely with the BOTM judges to select exceptional books that they think members will enjoy.
Subscriptions are $16.99/month or less with multi-month commitments (as low as $8.99/month for the annual plan). (Right now you can score a 3-month subscription for just $20.97 (just $6.99 per book shipped!) with coupon/invitation code “BOTM15“.)
Let’s check out my December 2015 Book of the Month Club box!
My book was shipped in a sturdy box via priority mail.
As always, the book was sealed against a piece of cardboard to keep it from getting damaged during shipping.
The box included a note from Kim Hubbard, one of the guest judge’s for December, who chose the book I received — “What She Knew” by Gilly MacMillan.
“What She Knew” by Gilly MacMillan – I’m often drawn to the thriller/suspense genre, so this book was an easy choice for me. Since I haven’t read it yet, I’ll include this blurb from Amazon (which is what also convinced me to choose it)…
“In a heartbeat, everything changes… Rachel Jenner is walking in a Bristol park with her eight-year-old son, Ben, when he asks if he can run ahead. It’s an ordinary request on an ordinary Sunday afternoon, and Rachel has no reason to worry—until Ben vanishes. Police are called, search parties go out, and Rachel, already insecure after her recent divorce, feels herself coming undone. As hours and then days pass without a sign of Ben, everyone who knew him is called into question, from Rachel’s newly married ex-husband to her mother-of-the-year sister. Inevitably, media attention focuses on Rachel too, and the public’s attitude toward her begins to shift from sympathy to suspicion.”
The hardcover version of this book is currently selling on Amazon for $27.89, while the paperback is going for $14.33. Whichever your choice, you’re getting a much better deal with Book of the Month!
Every box also includes a bookmark, which I always forget to snap a photo of. However, I loved the featured quote this month so I made sure to document it. 🙂
The Book of the Month selections for January 2016 are currently up on their site, which you can see in the screenshot above.
Remember — For a limited time you can score a 3-month subscription for just $20.97 (with coupon/invitation code “BOTM15“). That makes each book just $6.99 shipped!
