Let’s see what’s in my May 2017 BookCase.Club box!
Everything was shipped in a white and blue box with the BookCase.Club logo on top.
A peek inside! — As always, I chose the “Read to Me” Case which includes 4 hardcover children’s books.
Olga the Cloud by Nicoletta Costa ($13.23, Amazon)
A great book for early readers, this story follows a cloud named Olga on her day-long journey to find a spot to release some rain. After being chased away by various animals, plants, and humans, her persistence eventually pays off when she finds the perfect place to let it all out. 😉
The House That’s Your Home by Sally Lloyd-Jones ($12.52, Amazon)
This sweet book highlights all of the things — and people — that makes a child’s life their own. From their house, to the swing in their yard, to their grandparents and community… The story touches on everything that makes a child’s life special, all depicted in beautiful watercolor illustrations. Definitely my favorite book of the four!
Pest in Show by Victoria Jamieson ($5.98, Amazon)
A silly tale about Ladybug — who wants to be the star of her backyard theater show, and her kid brother (Fly) who also craves the spotlight. This book is full of fun “bug puns” and goofy song lyrics that are sure to be a hit with my preschoolers.
The Grasshopper & the Ants by Jerry Pinkney ($7.49, Amazon)
The classic tale of the ants who work diligently all year preparing for the coming seasons, while the grasshopper forgoes the need to work and spends his days having fun. The watercolor illustrations are nicely done, however my book seemed to be missing the text from the last half of the story. There were obvious blank spots where words should have been and the story was missing some key parts. Bummer.
Aside from the issues with that last book, I really enjoyed May’s BookCase.Club box. My favorites this month were “The House That’s Your Home” and “Olga the Cloud”. Using Amazon prices, the total value this month was just under $40! 😀 — Remember, if you’d like to sign up you can save 15% on your first month with coupon code “Rosebuds15“!
