Boxwalla is a newer bi-monthly subscription that sends you your choice of a beauty, food, film, or book themed box every other month.
Here’s a brief summary of the 4 different boxes offered: The Beauty Box features non-toxic, cruelty-free full and travel-sized products made by small businesses. The Food Box includes artisanal goodies such as jams, chocolates, coffee, and more. The Film Box will contain two films along with inserts with detailed information on each film. Finally, the Book Box contains 3 books and a fun book-related product or accessory. You can sign up for multiple boxes or switch between them as often as you like.
Subscriptions are $49.95/box and shipping is included.
I was recently sent their latest Beauty Box for review, so…
Let’s see what’s in the February 2016 Boxwalla Beauty Box!
The box! As mentioned in my previous reviews, Boxwalla’s boxes and information inserts are made of tree-free paper which is handmade from cotton scraps. Definitely a box you’ll want to repurpose!
A peek inside!
The theme for February’s box was “Cleopatra” and contained products to “pamper and treat your skin, body, and senses”. The info card listed all of the items inside, along with how to use them and why they were chosen.
CocoaPink Goatmilk & Honey Body Lotion in Signature White ($11.99) – An all natural, fast-absorbing body lotion handmade in small batches in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Moisturizing ingredients include aloe vera, shea butter, and organic coconut oil. “Signature White” features notes of rice flower, shea blossoms, and vanilla cream.
RMS Beauty lip2cheek in “Smile” ($36) – lip2cheek is a creamy blush that can also be used on the lips. It’s made with certified organic ingredients including coconut oil, castor seed oil, beeswax, and shea butter. Their website describes this shade as “a modern sheer coral/pink with a slight 50’s feel”. While I typically don’t wear anything on my lips, I think I may give this a try. If not, blush it is! 😉
RMS Beauty skin2skin Blush Brush ($34) – I think this is now officially the most expensive makeup brush I own. — And it’s vegan-friendly! This skin2skin blush brush is designed with extra soft bristles to ensure just the right amount of product is picked up. The bristles also prevent any existing foundation from coming off and instead presses the color into the skin to blend with your makeup, creating an “air brushed look”.
Lalun Naturals Moon Butter ($18) – A whipped balm-based moisturizer made with “exotic butters, exquisite essential oils, and wildcrafted plant extracts”. It can be used for your face, hands, or anywhere in need of a little extra hydration.
Lalun Naturals Winter Rose Toner (~$5) – An all natural hydrating toner consisting of rose water, aloe vera gel, local honey, glycerine, and rose flower essence. Perfect to use prior to their Moon Butter above, or during the day when your skin needs a little “drink”.
Another nicely curated Boxwalla Beauty Box! While I would have preferred that more of the items were vegan-friendly, I know I’m in the minority there and that’s fine. (I really wanted to try that lotion though! 😉 ) My favorite item was the moon butter and it was nice to see a pricey (vegan!) blush brush included. The overall value was impressive at almost $105! Nice!
