New year, new BuddhiBox! (Literally.) January’s shipment came in a newly designed box, that I must say is a vast improvement over their old “box within a box” situation. 😉
If you’re new here, BuddhiBox is a subscription box that focuses on yoga and healthy living. Each month you’ll receive 4-6 full sized products to assist in your yoga practice, as well as everyday life. All products are from ethical, socially conscious companies and a portion of all boxes sold is donated to a different non-profit organization every month.
Subscriptions are $30.95/month or less with multi-month commitments. They also offer a sample box for $11.95/month that includes 2-3 product samples and coupons. — New subscribers can save $3 on your first month with coupon code “buddhifriend“!
Let’s see what’s in my January 2016 BuddhiBox!
See? New box!
A peek inside. I’m loving this month’s featured quote.
The info card includes descriptions of each product as well as their retail prices. It also indicates if an item is vegan, organic, and/or cruelty free. Every month a portion of their sales are given to a different charity. This month it’s Second Chance Dog Rescue, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating homeless dogs.
Mandala Publishing Ganesh Journal ($18.95) – What a pretty journal! It measures 8.5″ x 5.5″ and features colorful artwork by Indian artist Indra Sharma. It also has a pocket inside the back cover to hold mementos, a ribbon placeholder, and an elastic closure. Each of the pagespreads includes an image of Ganesh in the lower right corner and the book has 192 acid-free pages in all.
Co-Pur Lavender Lime Body Balm ($15) – Oh wow… This body balm smells amazing! It’s made with 100% natural ingredients including coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, and essential oils (lavender & lime for this particular scent). It’s designed to help relieve dry/cracked feet and elbows, but you can use it wherever you need a little extra hydration. Did I mention how incredible it smells??
Levals Anahata Bracelet ($21) – The website for this company isn’t up as of this review, so I couldn’t link to it (or do any product research). That said, the info card states that this is a handmade “yogi-style” bracelet comprised of green aventurine, lepidolite (the purple beads), and rudraksha (the orange/red textured beads). It’s pretty, but is a little looser than I’d prefer (I like my bracelets super snug), so I’ll probably gift it to my mom who’s less picky and has larger wrists. 😉
North Detail Everyday Tote ($14) – If there’s one thing I don’t need, it’s another tote bag. That, and lip balm. 😉 Not everyone gets hundreds of subscription boxes a year though, so I’m sure this is a welcome item for most. (Though I gotta say, $14 seems a little steep for such a thin tote with no reinforced bottom. Just sayin’.)
Hemp Nation Kiwi Mango Body Wash (~$2?) – Mmm… Another awesomely scented item! This body wash is made with 100% pure hemp seed oil and… parabens? I actually just noticed that the info card says it’s paraben-free, but the ingredients on the bottle list methylparaben & propylparaben and other questionable ingredients. Bummer. 🙁
Herbal Zap Sample – This 100% natural, herbal-based supplement is designed to aid in digestion, promote elimination of natural toxins, and boost your immune system for overall wellness.
January’s featured yoga pose was “Tadasana aka Mountain Pose”. Full “instructions” were included on the reverse side of the card. I think this is the first pose yet that I can see myself totally mastering. 😉
The featured recipe is for a vegan Roasted Tomato Soup. A perfect cold weather dish!
Aside from the questionable hemp body wash, I thought this was a solid offering from BuddhiBox. I love the new box design and the overall value was great — just about $70 in products!
