Let’s see what’s in my August 2020 Candy Club box!
Everything was shipped in a pink, white, and blue box with the Candy Club logo on top.
A peek inside! — I went with the Mostly Sweet option for my review.
Starfish Sweeties
First up, Starfish Sweeties! These adorable pink, yellow, and green starfish-shaped gummies are flavored like various tropical fruits and coated in a generous dusting of sugar. As you can see in the second photo, all of the candy containers are printed with a nutritional label so you’ll know exactly what’s inside. — Very helpful for those with allergies, as well as vegetarians/vegans who need to avoid gelatin (which, by the way, pretty much all of these candies contain).
Rainbow Twistettes
Is this what they mean by “eat a rainbow”? 😉 These pretty twistettes consist of tart and fruity licorice on the outside, with a sweet vanilla cream filling on the inside. We’re not big licorice fans in this house, but my parents love it and were happy to take these to enjoy on their long car rides.
Jellyshell Sea Turtles
At first, I thought these colorful gummy turtles were quite cute… Until I read the description saying that they’re filled with a “strawberry jelly surprise”. As in, you bite into their squishy little bodies and a red (blood-like!?) ooze comes out. THOSE POOR TURTLES! Ha. 😉
Pineapple Rings
I’ve been buying a fresh pineapple pretty much every time I’ve gone grocery shopping this summer, so if it wasn’t for the gelatin in these gummy pineapple rings, I’d be all about ’em. I noticed these were listed under the “sour” section on the Candy Club site, so I’m guessing these were the non-sweet portion of my “Mostly Sweet” profile selection.
Strawberry Laces
These sweet strawberry-flavored licorice laces were the only non-gummy candy in the box. I’m guessing a lot of candies (looking at you, chocolate!) are hard to ship in the summer months due to the higher temperatures, so they have to stick to the ones that won’t melt in transit. Again, my licorice-loving parents were happy to save these from our licorice-phobic house.
Bubblegum Bottles
At first glance, these cute little pink & blue gummies made me think of those weird liquid-filled wax bottle candies that were were popular in the 80’s. (WHY did anyone even like those awful things?!) These ones are a lot less… questionable and have a sweet bubblegum flavor with a dusting of sour sugar to make things more interesting.
Candy Club is the perfect subscription box for anyone with an insatiable sweet tooth! The resealable containers allow you to sample everything at once without the risk of them losing their freshness. And while most of the selections I received were of the “gummy” variety, I’m sure you’d see more of the chocolate options included once the weather gets a little cooler. Melted candy is no fun. 😉 — Remember for a limited time, you can score $10 off your first Candy Club subscription box with the coupon code “ROSEBUDS10“!
