Mother’s Day #2 turned out pretty nice, despite having absolutely nothing planned for the day. Hurray for spontaneity! I had received two adorable outfits from Feltman Brothers a couple weeks ago and decided that Mother’s Day would be the perfect day to try them on and do a little photo shoot on the porch. (You can read more about Feltman Brothers here). Grumpy faces aside, the girls looked stinkin’ adorable in their little vintage-inspired, hand embroidered bubble rompers. Love them! After taking roughly five gazillion photos, we had dinner and my husband gave me a Mother’s Day coupon book that featured […]
Every year, since Mike and I have met, we’ve gone to the The Great Pumpkin Farm. It is thee ultimate “autumn fun times” destination in Western New York. Pumpkins, tractor rides, cider, face painting, corn mazes, carnival food — this place has it all. Last year, the girls were only 2 months old when the festivities went down, so Mike & I took the trip sans kiddos. I felt guilty not taking them, but they were way too small to truly appreciate the autumn-y awesomeness. This year they were thirteen months old. Surely they were old enough to enjoy a fun day […]
As threatened promised, here are the photos from the girls’ first birthday. I already covered all the sappy stuff in this post, so I’ll try to keep my ~feelings~ in check for this one. 😉 Ev was psyched that it was her birthday. Chloe was a little less enthused. Once it sunk in that it was her birthday too, Chloe got a little more pumped. (Ev thought it was absurd that it took so long for her to figure that out, but she kept it to herself.)
One year ago today I welcomed you into the world. Both of you. My “two little rosebuds”. You were tiny and pink and oh-so-fragile. I was afraid to hold you. I didn’t know a damn thing about motherhood. Or babies. Or twins. It was all so foreign to me. So new. So… terrifying.
Happy “First Day of Summer”! (You can’t tell, but I totally faked some enthusiasm there. Now you know how some of my exes felt. Zing!) Summer is my least favorite season, fo’ sho. I actually kinda hate it. Bugs? Sweat? Weeds? Yeah, no thanks. I’ve always chose to stay indoors as much as possible during these sweltering months (much to the ridicule of my family). However, now that I’ve got kiddos of my own, I guess it’s my responsibility to show them that a world DOES exist outside of our little home. An uncomfortable, sweat-inducing world full of mosquitoes and […]
Monday night was “date night” for Mike & I. Our first date night that actually took place AT NIGHT. (What a concept!) It was also the first time that we weren’t able to put our little rosebuds to bed ourselves. *sniff* My sister arrived around 6:30, I kissed the girls goodbye, and we headed downtown to see Mates of State. Downtown Buffalo is very… vacant. Being that it was a Monday night, it was even more so. We found a place to park and walked a few blocks (in the rain) to the venue. We expected to see a line waiting to […]
10 months! Crawling! Teeth cutting! Puffs! Things are getting exciting around here. The girls are VERY mobile and crawling around like crazy. Everly’s first bottom teeth just started poking through over the last 24 hours. Chloe’s are still hiding, but she can sit up on her own, so she’s got Ev beat on that one. They both know what’s up with cereal puffs now, and no longer let them fall out of their mouths. You go, girls. Eat those puffs! They get smarter & sillier every day and I can’t imagine life without these little nerds.
I’ve started this post at least a dozen times, only to delete the words a few sentences in. I have a bunch of ideas bouncing around in my head, but I can’t seem to transfer them onto the screen. Cranky, whining babies aren’t helping. (Sorry girls.) Rather than postpone this for later, I’ll just enlist the help of my dear friends, bullets. Love. On Saturday, Mike’s younger brother got married. The festivities took place at a cabin tucked away in the woods, right on the edge of a lake. Talk about picturesque. It was a beautiful ceremony, and the mother […]
Another day, another uncomfortable encounter with a stranger. The place: Dollar Tree checkout line. The offending stranger: A crotchety old lady. (Who else?) We stood in line, our little family of 4, waiting for the cashier to scan our goods. Mike handled the transaction, while I stood beside him with the girls. They sat facing away from the rest of the line, not making a peep. Another successful outing with twins. All of a sudden, I hear a loud, sarcastic “GOOD LUCK!”. I pretend not to notice, until the words are echoed once more. “GOOD LUCK”. I hesitantly turn around to confront the […]
Nine Months! This time I’m gonna skip the “oh my god they’ve grown so faaaast” junk & just get right to the photos. Cos there’s lots of ’em. (I may have taken 259. So yeah. Lots.) I’ll stop myself here. I assure you, there are a LOT more I could post… but I’ll spare you the other 200+ photos. That would make for one mighty long blog post (and many, many unfollowers).
Mike and I took the girls on a little walk around the neighborhood yesterday. And dammit, it was perfect. Perfect temperature. Perfect amount of sunshine. Perfect lack of wind. All of my ideal walking conditions were met and then-some. Bravo, mother nature! You’re alright! We walked past big, beautiful old homes (that I plan to occupy in my next life). We came across birds and squirrels and scary dogs. We smelled flowers and soil and Nyquil (well, Mike smelled that one). We took in all of the sights and scents that springtime has to offer. It was a beautiful day and […]
Yesterday the girls turned 8 months old. In-sane. How did this even happen? Where did my teeny little babies go?! Ahhhh!! In keeping with tradition, I took their monthly “sit on the couch/lay down with letter magnets” photos yesterday afternoon. But I also took some shots of them in their nursery, pre-bath. Both sets produced a few keepers, so in true “proud mamma” fashion, I’m going to share both of them. However, I won’t totally bombard my poor readers with a gazillion baby photos at once. (You’re welcome.) I’ll save the nursery photos for another post. Soooo here’s the “usual” […]
I’ve been finding myself saying this a lot lately: I am SO glad I had girls! When we first found out that we were having twins, Mike and I both were hoping for “one of each”. Best of both worlds and all that. But once they told us that there were 2 little girls in there, it just felt RIGHT. (Well, to me. Mike was kinda bummed, which was to be expected. I mean, he’s pretty outnumbered now with 3 girls in the house. Poor dude.) So yeah. Girls. Glad I have ’em. Reason #3789: Easter-freakin’-dresses!
Total indifference. That’s how I’d sum up the girls’ meeting with the Easter Bunny on Sunday. Pure “yep, just sittin’ here on a giant rabbit, no big deal…” indifference. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, given how “thrilled” they were to meet Santa. Thankfully, unlike Santa, there was no ridiculous fee to visit this toothy-grinned, oversized rodent bunny wabbit. The fellow parents were well-behaved, despite it being a zillion degrees in the “bunny room”. The line was long(ish), but we were in and out in 30 minutes or so. Yeah, one of the girls may or may not have vomited […]
