Let’s see what’s in my latest Daily Harvest shipment!
Everything was shipped in a big white box with Daily Harvest printed at the top.
A peek inside! — All of the items were kept perfectly frozen thanks to plenty of insulation and dry ice. The lining, food bowls, and box itself can all be recycled curbside. (The bowls are actually home compostable as well!)
Let’s eat!
I received 4 different (delicious!) smoothies. Here’s a peek at a few of them:
Mint + Cacao Smoothie
First up was Mint + Cacao. I’m a big fan of mint chocolate chip ice cream, so I was excited to try this one. As you can see in the photos above, all of the ingredients were freshly frozen and ready to blend with your choice of milk or water (I opted for almond milk). To prepare your smoothie, simply fill the cup with your chosen liquid, pour it into your blender, blend, and pour back into the cup. There’s even a pre-made “x” on the lid to insert a straw. So easy! 🙂 Now, despite the key ingredients including spinach and chlorella (a freshwater green algae) — the flavor was 100% peppermint. The little flecks of ground cacao gave it a great texture that I really enjoyed. Yum!
Strawberry + Peach Smoothie
I don’t have a blended photo of this smoothie, but I assure you it was lovely. 😉 Strawberry + Peach contained a fresh blend of strawberries, bananas, peaches, raspberries, and goji berries — along with gluten-free whole grain oats and flax seeds. Needless to say, it was fabulous.
Blueberry + Cacao Smoothie
Again, no blended photo here. (I just may have taken photos of these right out of the box and forgot to snap photos of the finished product. Oops!) As with the Mint + Cacao smoothie, this one also contained a mix of fresh fruit and green veggies — specifically kale and spinach. Also included were bananas, blueberries (obviously), dates, almonds, maca powder, and other nutritious ingredients. It was very chocolatey and you would never guess it contained any veggies. 🙂
Broccoli + Cheeze Harvest Bowl
Next up, a Broccoli + Cheeze Harvest Bowl! This easy to prepare meal only required a few minutes in the microwave and it was ready to enjoy. It featured a flavorful blend of broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potato, tomato, nutritional yeast, and more. It also contained a good amount of sunflower seeds, which at first I was a little unsure of — but it actually provided quite a satisfying crunch/added texture.
Sweet Potato + Wild Rice Hash Harvest Bowl
Another hearty Harvest Bowl, this one featured a tasty medley of sweet potatoes, wild rice, great northern beans, tomatoes, avocado, maitake mushrooms, and more. Coupled with a piece of fresh fruit, it made for a truly satisfying lunch!
Herb Wild Rice + Black Lentil Grains
Unlike the previous single serve meals, Herb Wild Rice + Black Lentil contains four full servings per package. But don’t worry — preparing a single portion was just as easy. Simply pour the serving amount into a bowl, add the specified amount of water, and microwave until ready. I absolutely LOVED this mix of black lentils, wild rice, cauliflower, quinoa, and fragrant herbs. It was the perfect side to enjoy with a sweet potato and fresh summer corn.
Banana + Cacao Bites
Snack time! — These little “Bites” were inspired by homemade cookie dough, but are made with whole, nourishing ingredients. Banana + Cacao has the flavor equivalent of a loaf of freshly made chocolate chip banana bread. SO good! Key ingredients include bananas, cashews, oats, almonds, dark chocolate, and chaga (mushroom powder). Did I eat more than one (1 Bite) serving at a time? Why yes. Yes I did. 😉
I really enjoyed my latest shipment from Daily Harvest! As a long-time vegan, it was nice knowing that I could order any of their meals and not have to double-check the ingredients. I was also happy with all of the portion sizes, which were very filling and more than enough for one person. My personal favorites were the Mint + Cacao Smoothie, Broccoli + Cheeze Harvest Bowl, Herb Wild Rice + Black Lentil Grains, and Banana + Cacao Bites. — Remember, for a limited time you can save up to $65 off your first box when you use coupon code “DH65” at checkout!
