Conscious Box time! First, I wanna say that the quality of my photos has been totally lacking lately and I apologize. It’s winter & the mail usually doesn’t come until it’s dark out, thus I’m stuck without any natural light. Our current mishmash of fluorescent bulbs, mixed with incandescents, mixed with Xmas lights isn’t quite the ideal setting for photographs. Secondly, my Conscious Box was freakin’ awesome this month!
If you’re not aware, Conscious Box is a monthly subscription box that features eco-friendly/natural products. Items range from healthy snacks, to natural toothpaste, and everything in between. There are 3 different boxes to choose from: The Vegan Box (which I get), The Gluten-Free Box, and the Classic Box. All boxes are $19.95/month, but you can almost always find a coupon code — often up to 50% off!
Okay, onto the goods!
Smock Paper Holiday Greeting Card – This is a pretty letterpress card, perfect for including with a last-minute gift exchange. The card printed on eco-friendly bamboo paper and the envelope is made with 100% recycled material. Handcrafted in Syracuse, NY.
Two Degrees Bar – I’ve had these bars before, but never this flavor. Actually, I didn’t even know this one existed — Chocolate Peanut. Mmmm. I’ve only ever seen fruit-based ones. This is a whole food bar that’s gluten-free, vegan, and uses non-GMO ingredients. With each bar they sell, Two Degrees donates a meal to a child in need. Nice!
BerryPlus Laundry Soap – I’ve seen this in other boxes a zillion times, but I’ve never actually gotten one in any of mine. This is super concentrated, natural laundry detergent made with soapberries. It’s supposed to be just as effective as conventional detergent, but a lot more eco-friendly.
Abundance Soaps Spearmint Rosemary Swirl Bar Soap – I LOVE the smell of rosemary, so I was super excited to find this soap in this month’s box. This is an all natural bar soap handmade in Ohio. It’s 100% cruelty free and made using real spearmint and rosemary essential oils.
Organic Freekeh by Freekeh Foods – Here’s another product that I’ve seen in other boxes, but never mine. Freekeh is an ancient (rice-like?) grain that’s a good source of fiber and protein. I can’t say that I’ve ever tried it, so I have no idea what it tastes like, or what to make it with. Hopefully I figure something out, cos this is a pretty decent-sized bag (8 ounces!). Time to get freekeh!
Yes Personal Lubricant – Lube! Yep, this is a water-based personal lubricant sample. It’s “pure, natural and organic”. Luuube.
Sam’s Natural Knuckle Wax – Is it weird that I grouped the knuckle wax in the same photo as the lube? Yes?… Okay, moving on… I didn’t know that “knuckle wax” was an actual thing, but now that I’ve seen it, I’m glad I have it. My knuckles are constantly dry/red/gross-looking in the winter months. Why waste lotion on my entire hands when I can just smear some wax right on my knuckles? Genius! (Oh, and it’s all natural, cruelty free & vegan too!)
Earnest Eats Dark Choco Mint Bar – Yum! I love Earnest Eats bars! They’re 100% natural, baked whole food bars that are vegan & wheat-free. They come in a bunch of tasty flavors, including this dessert-y dark choco mint. My personal fave is the choco peanut butter though. Sooo good!
The Good Bean Roasted Chickpeas – Roasted chickpeas with a touch of sea salt. I know a lot of people are into these things, but I gotta say, I am NOT a fan. There’s just something about ’em that I can’t stand. I love “regular” chickpeas, so I’m not sure why I loathe these ones so much.
Numi Savory Tea – “Beet Cabbage” tea, anyone? I’ve actually tried one of these “savory teas” not too long ago and it wasn’t as awful as it sounds. It’s more of a broth than a tea. Of course, I had a cold at the time, so maybe that’s why it didn’t seem too bad. I’ll be saving this one for my next cold as well.
Ultima Replenisher – This is an “electrolyte powder supplement” to help keep you hydrated. I’ve tried the lemon flavored ones before and they were alright. Grape sounds way better though. I drink these in the summer to try to make up for my poor water consumption habit.
MegaFood Baby & Me – When I saw this listed on my packing slip, I thought it was some sort of baby food. I was bummed to see that it’s actually a prenatal supplement. Kind of a weird thing to include in a non-baby specific sub box.
TotLogic 2 in 1 Wash & Shampoo – Lucky for me, I actually have a baby (or two) to use this sample on. This wash contains “a blend of nature’s finest ingredients” and is sulfate-/paraben-/phthalate-free.
BumBoosa Baby Wipes – These are baby wipes made from 100% viscose from bamboo. They’re infused with a natural, skin-soothing formula that’s scented with essential oils.
Whew! That was a lot of stuff! This month’s box had a total of 14 different samples (some full sized). Impressive!
