DoodleBug Busy Bags time! — The theme for April’s “bag” was Hello Spring!
If you’re new to them, DoodleBug Busy Bags is a fun subscription for little ones from Kidable Adventures (the company behind Little Thinker Box). Bags are aimed at children ages 3 through 9 and contain all of the materials needed to complete 4 to 8 fun crafts. Each bag will focus on a different theme, often relating to upcoming holidays or seasons. Monthly subscriptions are $15.99 and include free shipping.
Let’s see what’s in the April 2016 DoodleBug Busy Bag!
As usual, all of the crafts were sent in a padded envelope and sealed in a ziplock bag.
April’s theme was “Hello Spring!” and all of the crafts were listed on the info sheet along with photos and tips on how to complete each one.
Happy Spring Sign Paper Chain Craft – I used to love making paper chains to count down the days until Christmas when I was little, so this craft totally took me back to my childhood. All you had to do was form loops with the colored strips of paper (adhesive already attached) and hang them from the foam cloud. The big yellow sun (also with an adhesive backing) had to be placed as well.
Positioning the sun.
For some reason we seemed to have been missing a purple strip, but it still turned out cute!
Paint Chip Flower Ornament – I thought this was going to utilize actual paint chip cards, but the paper was just colored to resemble them. Weird. Anyway, it was fairly simple and just involved attaching the inner petals, outer petals, & stem together with the included yellow brad and using glue dots to attach the leaves. Your child could then personalize it by writing their name on the rim of the pot.
Chloe writing her name. Close enough. 😉
Her personalization was obviously my favorite part. 🙂
Mosaic Butterfly – I think this was Chloe’s favorite craft of them all. Simple, but engaging enough for a 3 year old to have fun with. Just decorate the foam butterfly with the colored foam sticker shapes.
She’s gotten really good at peeling the backing off of those little foam shapes. This was one of the few projects that she was able to complete 100% on her own.
The girls are playing with the finished butterfly and making it “talk” as I type.
DIY Unfinished Wood Spring Wind Chime – We have windchimes on our back porch that the girls are obsessed with. (They call them bells.) I knew this craft would be a hit.
She made sure to include a bit of each color in her “design”.
The completed “bells” are now proudly hanging in the kitchen.
Paper Loop Bird Ornament Craft Kit – This was the trickiest craft of the bunch. I knew it was too advanced for Chloe, so I did it myself and even I struggled with it… Upside down wings, decapitated head… It wasn’t pretty.
Chloe handled the placement of his wiggle eyes. Poor thing. 😉
Another fun collection of seasonal crafts from DoodleBug Busy Bags! While we enjoyed the ones that were provided, I do think they could have included a couple more. March’s bag had 9 crafts in all, which is almost double what this month had. Otherwise, we were pleased. 🙂
