Let’s see what’s in the December 2018 DoodleBug Busy Bag!
As always, all of the crafts were shipped in a padded envelope and sealed in a ziplock bag.
All of the crafts were listed on an info sheet, along with photos and tips on how to complete each one. — December’s theme was “Christmas” and included a collection of holiday crafts to decorate your home.
Candy Cane Foam Magnet Craft Kit
I was happy to see that this month’s bag wasn’t too heavy on the glitter. 😉 A few of the projects called for glitter stickers that were tucked into the baggie above, but this was the only kit we actually used them on. Assembling the magnet was super easy — just peel & stick the foam pieces onto the candy cane, then attach the magnet strip to the back.
I didn’t realize the red dot stickers were supposed to be for a different craft, so the candy cane was a bit overly decorated. 😉
All done!
DIY Unfinished Wood Mitten Ornament
I always like when they include DIY projects like this that allow my kids to get creative. I also appreciate that they include a fresh pack of mini markers to complete it.
The girls decided to take turns coloring each of the mittens.
Sadly, the “striped heart holding a candy cane” will be upside-down when hung up, but I think it’s adorable nonetheless. 🙂
3D Gingerbread House with Stickers
Another easy peel & stick craft that involved decorating the cardboard gingerbread house and using the slits to assemble the “3D” house once the stickers have been applied.
So many colorful candies. 🙂
Easiest gingerbread house ever.
Nutcracker Clothespin Craft Kit
Kids could make their own nutcracker friend using the adhesive foam pieces, large pom-pom, and red clothespins.
Decorating the pom-pom hat.
We tried getting him to stand up on his own, but the big pom-pom made him a bit off-balance. Ah well.
Reindeer Bead Necklace Craft Kit
Both of my girls love making these holiday-themed bead necklaces and often argue about who’ll get to complete them. Definitely a favorite over here!
Stringing the plastic beads. There were also two glittery snowflakes, but they were optional, soooo…
Here’s our cute, glitter-less reindeer friend!
Bead and Foam Christmas Ornament Craft
A great way to work on fine motor skills, this craft required your child to punch out all of the little circles and insert plastic beads in their place.
Finishing up.
All decorated and ready to be hung on the tree.
Mini Felt Christmas Banner Craft Kit
With so many foam crafts included, it’s always nice to receive one that uses good old fashioned felt. 🙂 This mini banner was easy to make, requiring your child to just peel and stick the felt pieces in place using the instruction sheet as a guide.
Almost done!
Such a cute decoration. 🙂
3D Foam Christmas Scene Craft Kit
A super easy to assemble craft that simply involved popping out the pre-cut pieces and inserting the foam characters as shown on the instruction sheet.
In goes the elf!
Simple, but cute.
Santa’s Workshop Sticker Scene
These are always fun and super simple to complete. — Just use the sheet of stickers on the right to decorate the holiday scene on the left.
Decorating Santa’s workshop.
Santa needs to rein in those elves!
The holiday-themed DoodleBug Busy Bags are always the most anticipated in our house and December’s was probably our favorite of the year. We were happy to see so many crafts (9 in all) and no glitter mosaic! Yay! 😉 — If you’re interested in subscribing, the theme for January will be Winter and February, Valentine’s Day.
