Earthlove Box sources products that are ethically responsible, including zero waste packaging, natural ingredients, cruelty-free, organic and non-GMO, gluten-free, beegan/vegan, and fair-trade. Let’s see what’s in the Spring 2021 Earthlove Box!
Everything was shipped in a brown box with floral illustrations and an Earthlove Box logo in the center.
A peek inside!
A full-color info booklet/magazine included a list of everything inside the box, as well as brief descriptions and retail values for each one. It also include articles on gardening, sea turtles, CBD, and more.
Spirit Wild Farm Organic Multi-pocket Farmer’s Market Tote ($48 value)
Constructed of 100% organic cotton, this versatile tote features four deep pockets on the outside along with a smaller one on the inside. It was designed by a small farmer who was tired of seeing people struggling with their totes at her local farmer’s market. Not only does it have sewn-in “tote-length” handles, but it also comes with a removable crossbody strap — which I LOVE. The tote also features a flat bottom, zippered closure (again, LOVE), and the phrase “Love the Earth” printed on one of its side pockets. I get a LOT of totes in subscription boxes, but this is hands-down one of my favorites to date!
The End of the Ocean by Maja Lunde ($15.99, Amazon)
Every Earthlove Box includes one of three different books voted on by active subscribers. Springs selections were Homegrown: Illustrated Bites From Your Garden to Your Table by Heather Hardison, Falter: Has the Human Game Begun to Play Itself Out? by Bill McKibben, or the title shown above.
From Amazon:
From the author of the number-one international bestseller The History of Bees, a captivating story of the power of nature and the human spirit that explores the threat of a devastating worldwide drought, witnessed through the lives of a father, a daughter, and a woman who will risk her life to save the future.
In 2019, seventy-year-old Signe sets sail alone on a hazardous voyage across the ocean in a sailboat. On board, a cargo that can change lives. Signe is haunted by memories of the love of her life, whom she’ll meet again soon.
In 2041, David and his young daughter, Lou, flee from a drought-stricken Southern Europe that has been ravaged by thirst and war. Separated from the rest of their family and desperate to find them, they discover an ancient sailboat in a dried-out garden, miles away from the nearest shore. Signe’s sailboat.
As David and Lou discover Signe’s personal effects, her long ago journey becomes inexorably linked to their own.
An evocative tale of the search for love and connection, The End of the Ocean is a profoundly moving father daughter story of survival and a clarion call for climate action.
While I probably would have chosen Homegrown myself (members can only choose after their first box), I do like stories about survival (as dark as this one sounds), so I’ll give it a go.
Only Salt Plastic-Free Spring Salt + Chef’s Pinch Bowl Starter Kit ($30 value)
According to the info booklet, 90% of sea salt is sourced from polluted seawater and contains a nasty cocktail of microplastics and other chemicals. Only Salt is hand-harvested from a pristine spring — 10,000 feet in the Andes Mountains — by the local Peruvian community. It’s 100% microplastics- & toxin-free. Also included was a handmade salt pinch bowl made from sustainable wood, as well as a $12 credit to use towards an Only Salt refill.
Cleancult Natural Bar Soap in Lemongrass ($5 value)
I only use natural bar soaps in the shower and one of my all-time favorite scents is lemongrass. — Needless to say, this item was a big win for me. 🙂 (I should probably note that subscribers could have received different scents, though I’m not sure what they were.) Safe for all skin types, this bar can be used on the face, body, and hands. Its non-toxic, plant-based ingredients include saponified coconut oil, glycerin, sodium gluconate, distilled water, lemongrass oil, and sodium chloride.
Batch Dream CBD Tincture ($75 value)
Part of me wants this tincture to work (who doesn’t love a good night’s sleep?), but part of me wouldn’t mind if it doesn’t (mainly due to the price cos I’m cheap 😉 ). Handmade in small batches, this specially crafted tincture is designed to calm your mind & body to help you feel at ease and fall asleep faster. It’s formulated with organic, sustainably grown hemp that’s lab-tested to ensure safety and effectiveness. To use, simply take one dose an our before bed or after a long day to help you unwind. Each bottle contains 60 0.5mL doses.
Tru Earth All-Natural Laundry Detergent Strips ($20 value)
I may not be in the majority here, but I love getting super practical items in subscription boxes. These laundry detergent “strips” are not only incredibly convenient, but also very eco-friendly — no big plastic jugs! Each small strip dissolves completely in water (hot or cold) and is safe for all machines including HE. To use, just toss one strip in with your laundry and wash as usual. For bigger loads, use 2 strips and for smaller ones tear a sheet in half. So easy!
The Farmer’s Touch Organic All-Natural Foot Cream + Refill ($13)
Designed to help sooth tired & achy feet, this aromatic foot cream contains nourishing ingredients including organic coconut oil, cocoa butter (made from scratch!), and eucalyptus/grapeseed/mint oil. To use, gently massage a small amount (a little goes a long way) into your feet after a shower or right before bed.
Impact Snacks Dark Chocolate Brownie Bar ($3 value)
This 100% plant-based bar consists of a “bittersweet chocolate interior and rich chocolate coating balanced by sweet, aromatic notes of vanilla”. Each serving is packed with 10 grams of plant-based pea protein and 6 grams of prebiotic fiber, as well as superfoods including maca and kale. Bonus: The wrapper itself is home compostable and each bar reclaims 250% carbon.
American Meadows Pollinator Seeds ($3 value)
Attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and bumblebees to your yard with a little help from this packet of pollinator seeds. The packet includes non-invasive, non-GMO wildflowers including cosmos, coneflowers, bee balm, and more. There are enough seeds to cover 10 square feet.
I’ve been looking for a good eco-friendly subscription box to try out and Earthlove Box ended up being just what I wanted. I love that they include so many practical “essentials” for daily living, along with a relevant book and vegan-friendly snack. My favorite items were the Spirit Wild Farm Market Tote, Cleancult Bar Soap, Tru Earth Laundry Strips, and Impact Snacks Brownie Bar. The total retail value of everything in this quarter’s box was an impressive $212.99! 😀 — Remember, for a limited time you can save $5 on your first box with coupon code “LOVETHEEARTH“!
