EsianMall Snack Box (aka Geek Gamer Snack Box) is a monthly subscription box that features Asian snacks with a geek/gamer theme.
Each box will feature an assortment of snacks from Korea, Japan, Thailand, and other countries throughout Asia. Items can include chips, ramen, gummy candy, cookies/biscuits, beverages, rice crackers, caramels, chocolates, and more. The boxes will also feature a new geek-related theme every month, with the larger box options offering collectibles as well.
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
Subscriptions are $14.95/month for the Mini box (5-6 items), $24.95/month for the Medium box (8-10 items), and $34.95/month for the Premium box (12-14 snack items, plus 1-2 collectibles). — For a limited time, you can save $3 on your first box with coupon code “GEEKSNACK“!
Let’s see what’s in the October 2016 EsianMall Mini Snack Box!
All of the items were shipped in a yellow box with a butterfly logo.
A peek inside!
The theme for October’s box was The Walking Dead.
EsianMall has a reward system that involves collecting colored paper tags to earn free boxes.
An info card listed all of the items in October’s box, along with brief descriptions for each one (including plenty of The Walking Dead references!). It also indicated which items were included in each of the different sized boxes (Mini, Medium, & Premium).
Mango Pudding – The info card described this as “mangosteen” pudding, but it clearly states mango on the package. Weird. They did include a cute little plastic spoon to go along with it though. 😉
Regent Cheese Rings – A product of the Philippines, these crunchy cheese rings are made with corn and coated in real cheese powder. They’re the largest item in the box and feature a Sailor Moon looking character on the package.
Marukawa Bubble Gum – Four different flavors of Japanese bubble gum were included. — Strawberry, orange, grape, and melon. Each box contains four gum balls.
Amay’s Almond Cookie – Amay’s almond cookies are made from a Chinese recipe using almonds from the groves of California and flour from the heart of America. They’re sweet and crunchy with a distinct nutty almond flavor.
Guava Candies – These green guava candies were included as a reference to the green sucker scene with Beth in the hospital. I think actual lollipops would have made more sense to include, but I guess these work too.
While I do like the theme EsianMall Snack Box went for, I think some of the references were a bit of a stretch. I also think that the box seemed pretty lacking for the cost of the subscription. I don’t know the actual values of each item, but I’m guessing the total is nowhere near the $15/month price. Still, if you’d like to sign up, remember you can save $3 on your first box with coupon code “GEEKSNACK“! (Maybe the larger boxes are better?)
