Give Joy Crate is a quarterly subscription box that delivers “seasonal inspiration for your life and home” right to your front door.
Each box will feature 6 to 8 boutique-worthy lifestyle and home decor products, many adorned with words that speak life & joy into your home. Items will be sourced from both well-known and small boutique brands who strive to speak joy & inspiration into women’s homes and lives. Give Joy Crate aims to curate a selection of products that are inspiring, and uplifting — encouraging you to be your best self and give joy away daily. They also donate a portion of the proceeds from their crates each season to a different worthy cause.
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
Subscriptions are $65/quarter (plus shipping).
Let’s see what’s in the Summer 2018 Give Joy Crate!
Everything was shipped in a plain white box with a Give Joy Crate logo sticker on top.
Pasted to the inside lid was a quote relevant to the current season: From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same the name of the Lord shall be praised.
A peek inside the box!
On top was a handwritten note, thanking me for my review.
An info card revealed this Summer’s theme — “Here Comes the Sun” — and listed each of the items I’d find inside. A portion of the sales from this quarter’s box will go to support Love Does, an organization that has been fighting for human rights and providing education to children in conflict zones for over 15 years.
Dei Woven Cotten Beach Towel
This large “Turkish towel” inspired beach towel was wrapped in a quote that read: When you go through deep water I will be with you — Isaiah 43:2. Made of woven cotton, the towel features a classic blue and white stripe color scheme with twisted white fringe along its ends. It measures 40 inches by 70 inches, making it great for use in the bath or at the pool.
Everybody Always: Becoming Love in a World Full of Setbacks and Difficult People by Bob Goff
From the back cover:
Driven by Bob’s trademark storytelling, Everybody, Always reveals the lessons Bob learned–often the hard way–about what it means to love without inhibition, insecurity, or restriction. From finding the right friends to discovering the upside of failure, Everybody, Always points the way to embodying love by doing the unexpected, the intimidating, the seemingly impossible. Whether losing his shoes while skydiving solo or befriending a Ugandan witch doctor, Bob steps into life with a no-limits embrace of others that is as infectious as it is extraordinarily ordinary. Everybody, Always reveals how we can do the same.
Bob Goff is actually the founder of this quarter’s “give back partner”, Love Does. Nice!
Hanging Planter/Candle Holder (linked to similar)
I’ve always liked the look of hanging planters/candle holders like this, so I was happy to see one included in the box. It’s basically a plain (un-embossed) mason jar held snugly inside a knotted jute rope net for hanging. I’m still not sure if I want to stick an air plant in there, or go the candle route… Either way, I love it. 🙂
Bloomingville Ceramic Pineapple Dish
“A pineapple a day keeps the worries away!” — This cute little trinket dish is shaped like a pineapple and painted with a distressed white finish. It measures approximately 5 inches long by 3.25 inches wide, making it a nice size for storing rings and other small accessories.
Primitives by Kathy Sunny Days Journals
The box included not one, but two sets of summer-inspired journals. — One to keep for yourself, and one to give to a friend. Each set featured one journal with the phrase “Happiness Blooms from Within” (unlined pages) and one that read “There is Sunshine in My Soul Today” (lined pages).
Summer Time Tumbler
Ah… Instant flashback of rocking out to “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince sometime waaay back in the early 90’s. This tumbler just oozes nostalgia… and it keeps you hydrated too! 😉 It comes with its own straw and is BPA-free & hand wash only.
Piper & Leaf Artisan Ice Tea
To accompany your new tumbler, Give Joy Crate also included a sample of Orchard Peach ice tea from Piper & Leaf. It’s caffeine-free and features a blend of peaches, pineapples, papaya, rosehips, hibiscus, lemon balm, and spearmint.
Little Flower Soap Co. Lip Balm & Skin Salve
Two handcrafted products from Little Flower Soap Co. were included: Lavender Lip Balm and Skin Rescue Balm. The lip balm is made with aromatherapy grade lavender essential oil to relax your body while hydrating your lips. The skin rescue balm features a blend of nourishing oils including coconut, aloe, and arnica to sooth rough patches and dry skin.
Inspirational Print
The final item wasn’t listed on the info card, but it’s a 5″ x 7″ print with the words “Be still & know” (Psalm 46:10). Great for framing or displaying on your desk for a bit of daily inspiration.
I wasn’t quite sure exactly what to expect from Give Joy Crate, but I was very impressed with their Summer offering. There were SO many great products included and I loved the cheerful, summertime vibes goin’ on. I didn’t do a cost breakdown, but I think it’s fair to say that the value is certainly there. 🙂
