August 2016 GlobeIn review time! — This month’s theme is “Pamper” and features a collection of artisan-made items to help you feel radiant and refreshed.
If you’re not aware, GlobeIn is a monthly subscription box that features handcrafted goods by artisans around the world. Each month features a new theme with products supplied by various artisans. GlobeIn helps to bring income and exposure to small artists, while introducing you to beautiful pieces of their culture. Many of the products included are eco-friendly, fairly traded, and/or organic. Subscriptions are $40/month (shipping included), or less with multi-month commitments. — You can save 25% on your first month with any 3-month or longer subscription with coupon code “WELCOME“.
In addition to their standard Artisan Box, they also offer a smaller Benefit Basket for just $19.95/month. Every Benefit Basket includes one artisan-made item, along with a handwoven palm leaf basket. (You can see August’s Benefit Basket review here.)
Let’s see what’s inside the August 2016 GlobeIn Artisan box!
The familiar green box!
A peek inside.
As always, a little info booklet featured full color photos and background information on all of the products included in the box, as well as the artisans who created them.
Shibori Scarf India ($25) – This pretty scarf was handmade in India using a traditional Japanese technique called Shibori — a process of dyeing in which stitching, binding, and folding are used to create geometric patterns on the cloth. It’s made of 100% cotton and features a row of tassels around the edges. Subscribers could have received one of two colors — this blueish gray (my favorite) or a teal green.
Hand-Dyed Jewelry Roll Malaysia ($30) – I’ve never owned a jewelry roll, so this is a totally new concept for me. I normally don’t take much jewelry with me when I travel (which isn’t often to begin with), so I’m not sure I’d use this, but it’s definitely well made. Each piece is hand-dyed using eco-friendly inks by women living in low income housing. There’s plenty of room to hold earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and a zippered pocket for even more storage.
Pure Cosmetic Argan Oil 30ml Morocco ($18) – Argan oil is everywhere these days and can be used for a variety of concerns. It’s full of Vitamin E and essential fatty acids which gives it great moisturizing power. Use it to hydrate your face, skin, hair, nails, and more.
GlobeIn Signature Palm Leaf Basket Oaxaca, Mexico ($12) – As always, the box included a handwoven basket made of discarded palm leaves that can take hours to hand-weave. While I do think these are neat, I’m kinda running out uses for ’em at this point.
To be honest, I was expecting something a little different from this month’s GlobeIn box. The “pamper” theme made me think there’d be more bath products and items of that nature. Still, I do like the pieces that were selected and the total retail value was impressive at $85. 🙂

I’m excited for my first box to come. I decided to cancel my popsugar box and try this one.
