In addition to their standard Artisan Box, they also offer a smaller Benefit Basket for just $19.95/month. Every Benefit Basket includes one artisan-made item, along with a handwoven palm leaf basket.
Let’s see what’s inside the December 2016 GlobeIn Artisan box!
As always, everything was shipped in the signature green & white GlobeIn box.
A peek inside!
The small info booklet featured full color photos and background information on all of the products included in the box, as well as the artisans who created them.
Woven Cotton Throw India ($30) – I can never have too many blankets or throws and this one is totally my style. I love the black & white geometric print and the tassels are the perfect finishing touch. This was made in Karur, India by women weavers whose skills allow them to support their families and community. The yarn is woven from recycled cotton scraps, which helps to reduce landfill waste as well as conserve land, water, and energy. Wins all around!
Ceramic Cup + Saucer India ($12) – This pretty cup & saucer set was molded, cast, glazed, polished, and painted in Khurja — India’s “Ceramics City”. GlobeIn’s order provided over 50 local artisans with work as the pieces were completed. The info card states that the set is “hand wash only”, but the sticker on the bottom suggests otherwise. I’m thinking I’ll cross my fingers and take a chance with my trusty dishwasher. 😉
Equal Exchange Rooibos Tea South Africa ($5) – Subscribers received either this organic rooibos or green tea. While I would have preferred the green, I do like the fact that rooibos is caffeine free. 🙂 Both varieties are fairly traded and grown on small farms representing environmental and social reform within the tea industry.
Hand-Painted Pyramid Candle Set South Africa ($16) – These pretty candles were hand-painted by Catherine, an artisan who works for Nobunto — a South African organization that employs women of the local disadvantaged community. I love candles, but these ones are just too neat looking to burn!
GlobeIn Signature Palm Leaf Basket Mexico ($12) – These signature baskets are included in many GlobeIn boxes and are woven entirely by hand. Each one can take hours to complete!
GlobeIn Greeting Card ($3) – This month’s box also included a pretty greeting card that would be great for a housewarming party. The inside is blank for you to add your own personal message.
December’s GlobeIn box was one of my favorites to date! I absolutely love the beautiful throw blanket and will be able to use each of the other items as well. The total retail value of everything this month was an impressive $78! — Remember, through December 18th you can save $20 on a 3-month or longer subscription with coupon code “HOLIDAYS16“! — Once that expires you can then save 25% on your first month with any 3-month or longer subscription with coupon code “WELCOME“.
