October 2016 GlobeIn review time! — This month’s theme is “Gather” and features a collection of items to enjoy while gathered around the table for a meal.
If you’re not aware, GlobeIn is a monthly subscription box that features handcrafted goods by artisans around the world. Each month features a new theme with products supplied by various artisans. GlobeIn helps to bring income and exposure to small artists, while introducing you to beautiful pieces of their culture. Many of the products included are eco-friendly, fairly traded, and/or organic. Subscriptions are $40/month (shipping included), or less with multi-month commitments. — You can save 25% on your first month with any 3-month or longer subscription with coupon code “WELCOME“.
In addition to their standard Artisan Box, they also offer a smaller Benefit Basket for just $19.95/month. Every Benefit Basket includes one artisan-made item, along with a handwoven palm leaf basket.
Let’s see what’s inside the October 2016 GlobeIn Artisan box!
Everything was shipped in the familiar green & white GlobeIn box.
A peek inside!
As always, a little info booklet featured full color photos and background information on all of the products included in the box, as well as the artisans who created them.
Handwoven Bread Bowl Mexico ($22) – We make homemade bread here a few times a month, but have never thought of serving it in a bread basket. Now we can! This generously sized basket was handwoven in Mexico using palm leaves and can easily hold a large loaf of freshly baked bread. Mmm!
Recycled Cotton Coasters India ($20) – Handcrafted in India by a company called Craft Boat, these unique coasters are made from recycled textile remnants. Each one features a one-of-a-kind design and fits snuggly into the cute polka dot patterned holder.
Neem Wood Salad Grabbers India ($15) – These beautiful salad grabbers were hand-carved out of neem wood by members of a cooperative called The Village Experience. Some of its artisans work right from the comfort of their homes, where they can better balance motherhood with earning a living for their family.
Palm Leaf Placemats (set of two) Mexico ($12) Basket Substitute – For October’s box, subscribers were given a choice between receiving the standard GlobeIn palm basket or these palm leaf placemats. These mats were woven in Mexico by Don Vulfrano Eustaquio Martinez Ramirez, who has been weaving since he was 10 years old (he’s now 68). You can tell that a lot of work went into making each piece!
I really enjoyed the “Gather” theme that GlobeIn went for this month. I love the idea of serving our freshly baked bread in a bread basket and I was happy to see a palm basket substitute offered again. The total value of all the items this time was just under $70! — If you’d like to sign up for the GlobeIn Artisan box, you can save 25% on your first month with any 3-month or longer subscription with coupon code “WELCOME“.
