GlobeIn time! September’s box is all about “Wellness”.
If you’re not aware, GlobeIn is a monthly subscription box that features handcrafted goods by artisans around the world. Each month features a new theme with products supplied by various artisans.
GlobeIn helps to bring income and exposure to small artists, while introducing you to beautiful pieces of their culture. Many of the products included are eco-friendly, fairly traded, and/or organic. Subscriptions are $35/month (shipping included), or less with multi-month commitments.
Let’s see what’s inside the September 2015 GlobeIn box!
As always, the box included a sticker with a quote related to this month’s theme.
A peek inside.
As mentioned earlier, the theme for September’s box is Wellness. 50% of the sales from this box will be donated to Watsi, an organization that connects donors to medical patients who can’t afford the procedures they need. Nice!
The booklet includes photos and background information on all of the products included in the box.
Blessing Bag Ghana ($12) – This sturdy, multi-functional bag is made from upcycled discarded plastic water sachets, which litter the streets of Ghana. It’s made by women who use the scarce resources available to them to help build a better life for themselves and their children. The zippered bag features a pretty glass adornment and fully lined interior complete with a small pocket.
Atacora Baobab Powder Benin ($10) – The baobab tree is known in Africa as “the tree of life”, as it can grow in harsh conditions and it yields the superfruit, baobab. This nutrient-dense powder is a good source of antioxidants, vitamin C, and more. You can add it to smoothies, cereal, baked goods, and anywhere else you want to sneak in additional nutrients.
The info booklet featured a tasty recipe for a “Berry Good Baobab Smoothie”. Yum!
Eye Pillow Peru ($13) – This handwoven cotton eye pillow was crafted inside the Amazon jungle. The cotton was dyed with mahogany bark and painted using a piece of bamboo dipped in berry juice. Cool! It’s filled with lavender and smells amazing.
Palm Leaf Basket Mexico ($12) – As always, the box included a handwoven basket made of discarded palm leaves that can take up to 6 hours to hand-weave. I seem to keep getting pink ones, which is totally fine with me. 🙂
Watsi Gift Card ($5) – Also included was a gift card to Watsi for you to donate to the patient of your choice.
Another great box from GlobeIn! I love learning about the backgrounds of the products included, since it makes me appreciate the items so much more. While I love the story behind the eye pillow, my favorite item is probably the bag just because I’ll probably use it more.
If you’d like to sign up for the GlobeIn Artisan box, they’re having a Labor Day sale today and you can save $10 on any subscription with coupon code “LABORDAY“. Offer good today only. When that expires, you can still save 25% on your first month when you use coupon code “WELCOME” at checkout!
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
