Time for some more eco-friendly artisan goods from GlobeIn! This month’s box theme is “Sustain” and includes a variety of useful, earth-friendly products from makers around the globe.
GlobeIn is a monthly subscription box that features handcrafted goods by artisans around the world. Each month features a new theme with products supplied by various artisans.
They previously had 3 different box category options to choose from (home accessories, jewelry, or decor), but have recently switched to one single monthly box with a mix of products from all of the categories. I’m really diggin’ the change — It’s always nice to receive a broader mix of items.
As always, GlobeIn helps to bring income and exposure to small artists, while introducing you to beautiful pieces of their culture. Many of the products included are eco-friendly, fairly traded, and/or organic. Subscriptions are $35/month (shipping included), or less with multi-month commitments.
Let’s see what’s inside GlobeIn’s “Sustain” box!
Everything was packed into a medium-sized shipping box featuring a red GlobeIn logo on the side.
First look: All of the goods were tucked inside of a colorful basket…
Palm Leaf Basket Mexico ($12) – I believe these baskets are included in each month’s box. They’re made of discarded palm leaves and can take up to 6 hours to hand-weave. Crazy!
Prana Market Tote Bag India ($5) – As indicated on the inside of the bag (see photo above), this handy tote is made from fair trade certified cotton in a fair trade certified factory. Subscribers received a variety of different designs and I’m happy with this simple print (though I LOVE the winter-themed one on their website!). This will be great for carrying books home from the library.
Lotus Foods Volano Rice Indonesia ($4.69) – This healthy blend of organic red and brown rice is grown in mineral-rich volcanic soil. It’s produced using a sustainable method that uses much less water than conventional practices. It’s organic, gluten-free, and cooks in just 30 minutes.
Bambu Coconut Bowl Vietnam ($14) – I love this! It’s a food-safe bowl made from a discarded coconut shell that’s been cleaned, polished, and finished with a natural lacquer. It’s suitable for both hot and cold foods, but should be hand-washed due to its hand finished nature. I was hoping for the purple color (so pretty!), but this is cool too.
Sweetriot Dark Chocolate Covered Cacao Nibs Colombia ($3.75) – This all natural treat consists of lightly roasted cacao nibs coated in 65% dark chocolate. The ingredients are fairly traded, non-GMO, gluten-free and dairy-free. I love cacao nibs!
EcoLips Relieve Softening Lip Balm Brazil ($5.99) – “The most sustainable lip balm in the world”, this nourishing balm comes in a tube that’s 100% biodegradable. It contains wild-harvested brazil nut oil for ultimate hydration, as well as fair trade certified cocoa butter.
As much as I enjoyed last month’s world kitchen theme, I think I liked this one even more. GlobeIn did a great job selecting a fun mix of products and they’re all things that I’ll totally use. The value was great too — over $45 retail.
