Goodie’s Co recently announced they would be offering a Kid’s Box and this is the very first one! I had seen spoilers before I got my box and was very impressed with the snacks included. As with the original Goodies Box, the Kid’s Box is only $7, shipping included! Plus, it comes in a super cute box that your kiddo’s can color. Neat!
Let’s see what’s inside!
Bare Fruit Crunchy Fuji Red Apple Chips – I’m gonna go ahead and list all of the ingredients in this bag… Ready? Here goes… Apples. Yep. Apples. That’s it! I love that. What I also love is that these are actually GOOD. They have a very satisfying crunch and make an ideal healthy alternative to chips. I want more!
Diamond Hawaiian Animal Cookies – I was bummed to see that these weren’t vegan, so I passed them along to my dad. I’ve heard mixed reviews on ’em… Some people loved them… Some say they were too hard or had a “burnt” flavor. They’re made in Hawaii using real Hawaiian honey, so that’s neat.
Crunchmaster Cinnamon & Sugar Grammy Crisps – This was a full size box! They’re crunchy graham cracker-like squares with 50% less fat than regular graham crackers. They’re made with 100% whole grains and are vegan & gluten-free. Awesome!
Mott’s Medleys Fruit Snacks – I was surprised to see that these fruit snacks didn’t contain gelatin. Yay! They also use real fruit. However, while fruit & vegetable juices ARE the first ingredients listed, this is far from healthy. There’s plenty of sugar and corn syrup in ’em too. That said, they did taste good!
Enjoy Life Chocolate Chip Cookies – I wanted to love these. I really did. Especially since they’re vegan and gluten-free. Sadly, I wasn’t impressed. They were VERY crumbly (messy) and kinda hard. The taste was alright, but certainly nothing to write home about. 🙁
Zangy Tangy Twisties in Wild Berry – Okay, I did NOT like these. I actually didn’t even want to try them, but I gave ’em a shot. I ate a couple and promptly threw the rest in the trash. They are SO artificial and packed with sugar, corn syrup, hydrogenated palm oil, artificial flavors/colors… Blech! I would NOT give these to my kids. So gross.
Got Milk? Vanilla Milkshake Magic Straws – As soon as I saw the “Got Milk?” logo, I figured these would surely have dairy in them. Surprisingly, they didn’t. The straws are filled with some sort of sugary beads that supposedly turn a plain glass of milk into a vanilla milkshake. The ends are beveled to hold the beads in and make it harder to suck (tee hee) and more milkshake-y. I tried one in a glass of soy milk and I honestly couldn’t taste any difference. Ehh.
All in all, I was happy with the first Goodies Kid’s Box. Sure, I could have done without the gross artificially flavored stuff, but it could have been a lot worse. The apple crisps were great and I like that they included a full size box of healthy-ish grahams. I’ll definitely be sticking around to see what else they send out in the coming months. Besides, for $7, you really can’t go wrong!
