I haven’t reviewed a Gourmet Body Treats box since August, so I was excited when they asked if I’d like to review December’s box. Of course I would!
If you’re not aware, Gourmet Body Treats is small, family-owned beauty/cosmetics company dedicated to providing quality products that are not only effective, but also 100% cruelty-free. They offer a large selection of natural body care products and cosmetics including mascara, lipstick, body scrubs, soaps, and more. All of their products are vegan, cruelty free, kid-safe, and made right here in the USA.
The monthly Gourmet Body Treats Beauty Box gives you a chance to affordably sample some of their great products. It’s $24.99/month and includes 2-3 deluxe size items, as well as a few samples.
Let’s see what’s in December’s box!
I didn’t take a picture of the box itself, but you can see it in the first photo. It was pretty small, so I was curious what would be inside. The info card listed all of its contents, as well as the retail values for each item.
Cane Sugar Exfoliator ($14.00) – Unfortunately, this leaked a bit during shipping and left a sticky film on everything. Luckily, only a little came out and I was able to rinse the other products off so there was no real damage. This is a unique exfoliator that uses the glycolic acid naturally found in cane sugar to dissolve dead skin cells, eliminating the need for harsh scrubbing irritants. (Note: I wasn’t able to find this on their site, but the info card says the full size (2 ounces) is $28, and since this is 1 ounce, I listed it for $14.)
Tiny Taklon Square Brush (~$4.50) – I wasn’t sure what kind of brush this was so I went to search for it on Gourmet Body Treats’ shop. No luck. I finally found it thanks to Mr. Google and it looks like they included it to apply the exfoliator (maybe?). The description I found says that it’s great for evenly spreading oils, creams, and liquids. It wasn’t included on the info card, so I’m guessing it’s just a bonus item.
Organic Liquid Eyeliner in “Holiday” ($26.99) – I believe this is a full-sized item, which is cool, but I’m not a fan of the color. I’ve always used black (or equally dark) eyeliner, so I don’t really think I could pull off such a light, brownish red shade. I do appreciate that it’s made with all natural, chemical-free ingredients and is 100% vegan. I just wish it was black. Ah well.
Samples: Two vials of Loose Mineral Eyeshadows in “Midnight” & “Mediterranean Clay” (love the blue!) and a small sample pot of Hydrating Vegan Lipstick in “Peace”.
I gotta say, this wasn’t my favorite Gourmet Beauty Treats box. While it was cool to get a full sized liner, I’ll never use it due to the color. I’ll give the exfoliator a try, though the whole “leaking situation” kinda put a damper on it. Still, the value was certainly there, considering the liner alone sells for $26.99. Overall, it wasn’t a bad box, it just wasn’t for me.

LOL! Although they seem to be a great brand, that liner comment was hilarious! I really have to try some of their products. I have some kind of whitish powder that I received in my eco emi box, but I’m not sure what it is since it didn’t disclose. . :/ ehh..

Yeah, it’s weird that a lot of their products don’t show up in their shop too… I’m not sure if they’re limited runs or what, but it’s odd.

That brush is likely to be used with the lipstick, it looks like a few lip brushes I have. An older style, but I bet that is why it was in there.

Ohhhh okay. That makes sense. I’m clueless about brushes. Thanks!

The products in our subscription boxes were mainly limited edition or seasonal items. We thought it would be a fun idea but we have since cancelled the subscription box so we can better focus on making our top sellers.
