Let’s see what’s in the January 2016 Hamptons Lane “Power Bowl” box!
The box!
A peek inside!
The box featured a nice full-color information booklet filled with recipes, product information, and tips for making a variety of different power bowls. Additional recipes can be found on their site as well! If you’re new to them, a power bowl is basically a one-bowl meal consisting of a selection of grains, greens, starches, protein, and veggies. They’re super versatile and the combinations are endless.
Onyx Airtight Stainless Steel To-Go Bowl – You can’t make a power bowl without a bowl, right? This sturdy 1.1 liter (4.25 cup) stainless steel “to-go” bowl features an airtight silicone seal and 3 latches to ensure a leak-free dining experience. It’s made of food-safe stainless steel and everything but the seal itself is dishwasher safe.
Dressing-2-Go Salad Dressing Container – I love this! I’ve never seen a portable dressing container with an actual flip-top pourable cap/spout. So much easier than trying to use a small container and dealing with the drips/mess involved with lidded ones. It’s made of food-grade silicone and is top rack dishwasher safe.
Nuts.com Organic Pearled Farro – A key component to any power bowl is a hearty grain. This pearled farro is one of the fastest varieties available and is a great source of plant-based protein. It also has low enough gluten levels to be eaten by those who are gluten intolerant. I’ve actually never tried farro before, so I’m curious to see what it’s all about.
North Bay Trading Co. Minnesota Grown Wild Rice – According to the info card, wild rice is actually not a grain, but an aquatic grass seed. Weird! It’s also very high in protein and has its own unique flavor. It takes a bit to cook (40-45 minutes), and should be washed and drained before use.
Lucky Dog Dia del Perro Hot Sauce – I’m starting to really get into hot sauce these days (thanks to subscription boxes!), so I’m always happy to try more. This award-winning sauce features a mild, salsa-like flavor with just a bit of heat.
Spiceologist Chile Margarita Rub – A flavorful rub made with ancho peppers, aleppo chile, and orange & lime peel. It’s ideal for meat, veggies, and anything else that needs a boost of flavor.
Hamptons Lane chose a great theme to kick off the new year! With so many people resolving to eat healthier, power bowls were definitely a smart choice. All of the items were super useful and I love that they included so many recipes to accompany them (30 different power bowls are featured on their site!). An awesome box to inspire a healthier diet in 2016!
