The March 2016 Hamptons Lane box celebrated traditional French cuisine. — Specifically, crepes!
If you’re new here, Hamptons Lane is a unique subscription box that features a new selection of kitchen tools, artisan foods, tabletop items, and recipes every month. Each box will introduce a different theme which spotlights a specific region, food, skill, ingredient, or activity. The themes are announced beforehand, so if it’s not something you’re interested in you’re free to skip that month’s shipment. You can even choose to substitute it with a past box from their shop.
Subscriptions are $47/month, but you can save $10 on your first box with coupon code “2LittleRosebuds10”.
Let’s see what’s in the March 2016 Hamptons Lane “Crepes” box!
A look inside. Everything was shipped in a big ol’ brown box and was actually packed nicer than this, but my husband & MIL kinda got to it before I could take pictures. 😉
The box included a full-color information booklet filled with product information, recipes, and tips for making a variety of different crepes.
Blue Steel Crepe Pan by de Buyer – The first step to making a good crepe? Procuring a good crepe pan! This 7 7/8″ pan is made of blue carbon steel which, like cast iron, becomes increasingly non-stick over time.
Wooden Crepe Spreader by Berndes – Hamptons Lane included this handy beech wood spreader to help spread your crepe batter quickly and evenly.
French Style Crepe Mix by Bear Branch Milling Co. – This French-style crepe mix is a great starting point for making authentic style crepes. Just add water, milk, eggs, and butter… blend until super smooth… and crepe away! 😉
Orange Saffron and Cardamom Marmalade by Eat This – I’ve never had marmalade before and honestly never knew that it was made of actual fruit peels/rinds (until now!). I actually had to Google it to see if you really do eat the peels. When properly cooked, the peels/slices soften to the point that they’re easily chewed. With that lesson out of the way… This marmalade makes for a great crepe filling that has hints of both sweet and savory thanks to the combination of citrus, cardamom, and saffron.
CC Made Dark Chocolate Caramel Sauce – If you want a super sweet crepe, this dark chocolate caramel sauce is the perfect filling choice. Ingredients include real cream, Guitard Alto unsweetened cocoa, and fine sea salt.
The Spice House Herbes de Provence – A traditional French herb blend, Herbes de Provence lend an authentic, savory flavor to your crepe dishes. It features a blend of rosemary, French thyme, tarragon, basil, savory, fennel, lavender, marjoram, oregano, dill, and chervil.
As a vegan, I wasn’t too excited about the theme of this month’s Hamptons Lane box — until I did a little research and found this recipe for 3-ingredient vegan crepes! Now I can’t wait to try ’em. 🙂 My husband grew up eating crepes as a special “dessert dinner” with lots of strawberries and whipped cream. Hopefully I can continue that tradition for our family, vegan-style. Fingers crossed!
