Let’s see what’s in the January/February 2018 The Hippie Hobby box!
The box!
A peek inside.
The featured project for January/February was DIY Sunburst Mirrors. A link was provided where you could find complete step-by-step instructions, along with helpful tips and photos.
Craft Mirrors
3 different sized craft mirrors were included — 2″, 3″, and 4″. The photo above was shot at an angle, making them look oval. I assure you, they were all perfectly round. 😉
Gold Bead Necklace
A plastic gold beaded necklace was to serve as the decorative border around each of the mirrors. You were to cut/measure out 3 different lengths to fit the circumference of each one.
Aleene’s Fast Grab Tacky Glue
A 4-ounce bottle of “fast grab” tacky glue was provided for attaching the beads, as well as the wire “petals”.
20 Gauge Gold Craft Wire
The flower petals were to be formed using this 15-yard spool of gold 20 gauge craft wire. You were to cut it into 16 6.5″ pieces, 18 8.5″ pieces, and 22 10.5″ pieces. You would then bend your wire pieces in half until they are shaped like a petal shape and set them in piles according to size (with the smallest petals going with the smallest mirror).
The finished project is shown above (as taken from the instruction page). I actually opted not to complete it, as I just wasn’t a fan of the end result and knew it wasn’t something that would fit with my decor. So instead of ending up with a craft I had no use for, I decided to just hold onto the materials to use with other future projects.
Needless to say, the January/February 2018 The Hippie Hobby box wasn’t exactly one of my favorites. The project didn’t really fit the “hippie”/eco-friendly vibes of past boxes and it just wasn’t something I’d want to personally display in my home. Ah well, can’t win ’em all! 😉 — Remember, if you’d like to subscribe you can save $7 on your first box (making it just $16.95) when you use coupon code “ROSEBUD7” at checkout!
