Let’s see what’s in the May/June 2017 The Hippie Hobby box!
The box!
A peek inside.
The featured project for May/June was a DIY Hummingbird Perch. Complete step-by-step instructions were provided, along with helpful tips and photos.
There was also a small insert that gave a little more info and fun facts about hummingbirds.
Grapevine Twigs, Willow Branch, Plastic Tube
A bundle of grapevine twigs and a willow branch were to serve as the main structural elements of the perch. The plastic tube would hold the nectar for the hummingbird to feed on.
Plastic Flowers & Leaves
Hummingbirds are attracted to bright colors, so some hot pink flowers and leaves were included for decoration.
Sugar, Grapevine Heart, Glass Beads, Holly Berries, Copper Wire
The “nectar” required a mixture of sugar and water, so 2 packets of pure cane sugar were included. A little grapevine heart was to be the focal point of the piece and was to be decorated with the tiny beads and holly berry stems. 24 gauge copper wire was provided to attach all the components & hold it all together.
Ruler
Finally, a paper ruler was provided to measure out the required wire lengths.
To be totally honest, I was a little underwhelmed with the project in this May/June The Hippie Hobby box. So much so, that I kept putting it off and still haven’t pushed myself to assemble it. :/ Ah well, ya can’t please everyone. Here’s hoping next month’s is a little more “me”. 🙂 — Remember, if you’d like to subscribe you can save $7 on your first box (making it just $16.95) when you use coupon code “ROSEBUD7” at checkout!
