Ipsy is a beauty subscription that sends subscribers a monthly “Glam Bag” full of cosmetics and beauty accessories. This is my fifth month with them (you can see my other reviews here).
When you sign up, you take a “beauty quiz” to determine your likes/dislikes, makeup preferences, etc. This helps Ipsy learn which products to send in your Glam Bag. Each bag will contain 4-6 full sized and deluxe sample sized products from top cosmetics brands.
Ipsy is only $10/month and offers a nice rewards program that gives you points for reviewing your products and referring friends to join. Points can be redeemed for “bonus items” in your next bag. Awesome!
Ipsy sends a lot of different variations each month, so you’ll see that other subscribers got totally different products than you did. Hopefully your beauty quiz answers match you with products that most meet your needs… But honestly, even if I only get a couple items that “fit” me, I still consider it a good value since many of them are deluxe samples or full sized. You almost always get your money’s worth (and then-some)!
Alright, let’s see what’s in my August Glam Bag!
The theme this month is “Beauty Schooled”.
The Bag – I wasn’t too thrilled about this month’s bag. It feels like cheap vinyl and looks like a pencil case. Meh.
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara – I believe everyone got either an Urban Decay mascara or eyeliner in this month’s bag. I don’t use mascara too often, but I’ve heard good things about this brand, so I’ll definitely try it out. (Estimated Retail Price for this sample size: $5.00)
Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil – Welp, looks like I ended up with an eyeliner and a mascara. I was kinda bummed at the size of this. It’s like a fourth of the size of a normal pencil. Ipsy usually sends deluxe size samples (or full size), so I was surprised to see this little stump in the bag. (Estimated Retail Price for this size: $3.00)
Manna Kadar Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion – Meh. I would never use a “shimmer lotion”, so I can’t say I’m a fan of this. It’s supposed to “light up your skin” and give it an allover glow. Mehhhh. (Estimated Retail Price: $10.00?)
Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner – Finally! A full size item! Figures it’s a lip balm that I have 60498 zillion of. Ah well. It does sound nice… It’s made with organic ingredients and is scented with ginger and orange essential oils. (Amazon Price: $5.50)
Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk – I got this in a Bluum box a while ago and wasn’t happy to see it then. So yeah, not happy to see it now either. I know a lot of people love this stuff, but dry shampoo just sounds gross to me. I dunno. (Amazon Price for this size: $9.24)
The total of all the items in my August Ipsy bag comes to $32.74. While that’s a great value, I obviously wasn’t too thrilled with the products I received this month. I went to the site to edit my Ipsy style quiz, so hopefully next month’s will be better. Can’t win ’em all I guess…

I got the mascara and dry shampoo too. I am not usually a fan of dry shampoo. I just haven’t found one I like. I was pleasantly surprised with this one though! It is very easy to use. Hopefully next month you’ll get a bag you enjoy more!

I wish I could like it! Actually… for what it sells for, I’m kinda glad I don’t. 😉
