January Ipsy time!
If you’re new here, Ipsy is a beauty subscription that sends subscribers a monthly “Glam Bag” full of cosmetics and beauty accessories for just $10/month. When you sign up, you take a “beauty quiz” to determine your likes/dislikes, makeup preferences, etc. This helps Ipsy learn which products to send in your Glam Bag. Each bag will contain 4-6 full sized and deluxe sample sized products from top cosmetics brands.
A lot of different variations are sent each month, so you’ll see that other subscribers may have gotten totally different products than you did. Hopefully your beauty quiz answers match you with products that most meet your needs… But honestly, even if you only like one or two of the products, for $10 shipped it’s still a pretty good deal.
Let’s see what’s in my January 2016 Ipsy bag!
The Bag – January’s bag featured a colorful pop art design with matching blue zipper pull. Cute!
TheBalm Cosmetics Mr. Write (Now) Eyeliner Pencil in “Jac B. Bronze” ($17) – I’m always happy to see a full sized eyeliner in my bag, though I’m not sure how I feel about this bronze shade yet. I like it better than the other option that was sent to subscribers this month (purple), so that’s good. 😉 Plus, this item alone more than pays for the entire bag.
City Color Cosmetics Eyeshadow Trio in “Falling Leaves” ($5.99) – The shades in this palette are really pretty — matte burnt orange, metallic bronze and champagne highlight. However, I was kinda bummed to see that the formulas contain parabens. Boo.
Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Curl Mascara ($21.95) – I believe this is a full sized product, but couldn’t verify the size online. This mascara is cruelty-free, hypoallergenic, and safe for contact lens wearers. However, like the shadow above, it does contain parabens.
Pur~Lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum (~$25) The full size of this eye serum (.50 oz) sells for over $50 on Amazon, so I was shocked when I realized that this little .24 oz sample is worth roughly $25. Crazy. Just apply to the eye area in the morning and before bed to hydrate, firm, and decrease puffiness.
Lasting Smiles Organic Lip Balm in Peppermint Creme ($3.99) – These lip balms are not only made with organic and fairly traded ingredients, but every purchase helps fund cleft lip surgeries for children.
I personally didn’t love my January Ipsy bag, mainly due to the high amount of products containing parabens. However, the total value was insane this month — over $70 in products! Woah!
