May Ipsy review time! For the first time in many months, I’m actually really happy with its contents. (Woo!)
If you’re new here, Ipsy is a beauty subscription that sends subscribers a monthly “Glam Bag” full of cosmetics and beauty accessories for just $10/month. When you sign up, you take a “beauty quiz” to determine your likes/dislikes, makeup preferences, etc. This helps Ipsy learn which products to send in your Glam Bag. Each bag will contain 4-6 full sized and deluxe sample sized products from top cosmetics brands.
A lot of different variations are sent each month, so you’ll see that other subscribers may have gotten totally different products than you did. Hopefully your beauty quiz answers match you with products that most meet your needs… But honestly, even if you only like one or two of the products, for $10 shipped it’s still a pretty good deal.
Let’s see what’s in my May 2016 Ipsy bag!
The Bag – Cuuuute! I think this is one of my favorite Ipsy bags yet. I love the fun envelope style design and world travel theme. I believe 3 different color variations were sent out — purple, pink, and blue.
Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow Trio (~$7) – I love Pacifica because all of their products are vegan-friendly and I don’t have to worry about reading ingredients. (Yay!) This little eyeshadow trio features the shades “Skinny Dip”, “Crush”, and “Lovely”. Perfect colors for daily wear.
Smashbox X-Rated Mascara Volumateur (~$7) – I’m always happy to try new mascara. This one claims to have a formula that is clump, flake, and smudge-proof.
SOO AE Facial Masks (~$9) – I was surprised to see not one, but THREE of these face masks included in my bag. — “Brightening” is packed with ingredients to correct hyper pigmentation and brighten skin, while improving overall skin tone… “Propolis” improves skin’s elasticity and radiance with honey extract, known to fight the harmful effects of environmental stressors… Finally, “Collagen” helps to restore and improve overall elasticity and firmness.
Glamour Dolls Blending Brush #10 Sperm Whale Edition ($3.99) – I was kinda expecting this brush to sell for more than $4 — I mean, it has little WHALES on it! Hands down the cutest makeup brush I’ve ever owned. Plus, it’s cruelty free and made with soft, synthetic hairs. Also, whales. 😉
Clark’s Botanicals Smoothing Marine Cream (~$35?!) – Wow… The full size of this smoothing cream retails for $115 for a 1.7 fl oz jar! This must be some seriously potent stuff (at least I would hope so for that price.) According to their website, it claims to gently soften the appearance of fine lines with Glycolic Acid wrapped in Algae and Yeast Extracts. It also helps balance and soothe stressed skin with Jasmine Absolute.
I’m relieved to have finally gotten an Ipsy bag that didn’t totally miss the mark. The bag itself is super cute and I think I’ll use every item they tucked inside of it. The retail value of everything was equally impressive at roughly $60! 😀
Wanna check out Ipsy’s Glam Bag for yourself? Take their style quiz and then decide if you’d like to subscribe! (You’ll definitely get your money’s worth!)

Was there a generation beauty NYC promo code in there? If so, what was it? 🙂

I honestly have no idea, but if there was I’m sure I would have tossed it. Sorry!
