“Life is short. Wear glitter.” — Words of wisdom according to this month’s Ipsy Glam Bag. November’s theme is “Girl meets Glitter” and features products that add a little sparkle and shine to your everyday look.
Ipsy is a beauty subscription that sends subscribers a monthly “Glam Bag” full of cosmetics and beauty accessories for just $10/month. When you sign up, you take a “beauty quiz” to determine your likes/dislikes, makeup preferences, etc. This helps Ipsy learn which products to send in your Glam Bag. Each bag will contain 4-6 full sized and deluxe sample sized products from top cosmetics brands.
A lot of different variations are sent each month, so you’ll see that other subscribers may have gotten totally different products than you did. Hopefully your beauty quiz answers match you with products that most meet your needs… But honestly, even if you only like one or two of the products, for $10 shipped it’s still a pretty good deal.
Let’s see what’s in my Ipsy Glam Bag this month!
The bag was appropriately glittered to the max. I’m usually not a fan of glitter because it gets everywhere and drives me nuts, but luckily this material has the glitter “built in”. It’s smooth as can be and not a speck of glitter will end up on my hands. Or in my eyes. Or floating in my coffee. (Stupid glitter.)
Nicole by OPI Polish in “Guys & Galaxies” ($5.00?) – Finally! I’ve been hoping to get a polish in my bag since I joined Ipsy back in the spring. Though I don’t love glitter, I’ll definitely use this as a fun top coat once I manage to grow out my nails again. Hopefully that’ll be soon cos this would be great for the holidays.
Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Hairspray ($3.50) – I rarely use hairspray, but I guess it’s good to have a little on hand for the few times that I do need it. This is sulfate-free and contains argan oil, which is supposed to do amazing things for your hair.
Clarisea Instant Glow Powder Exfoliant ($6.00) – At first I wasn’t too excited about this, but after reading the ingredients I changed my mind. This powder exfoliant is made with 100% natural ingredients that gently buffs impurities out of your skin and makes it look & feel smoother. You can mix a small amount into your normal cleanser, or simply apply it with a little water.
Elizabeth Mott You’re So Fine Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($20.00) – I’ve gotten SO many eyeliners thanks to Ipsy, but it’s something I use daily, so it’s cool. This is a liquid liner with a fine tipped brush and a hint of glitter. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve heard that it can stay put up to 24 hours. Nice!
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant ($2.00?) – First, this is a teeny sample. Just a quarter of an ounce. Second, its main ingredient is petrolatum. Gross. I read the reviews on Ipsy’s page and the majority of them were negative: Too greasy, felt chalky, awful smell, etc. Needless to say, I’ll be passing on this one.
The total estimated value (using Amazon prices) of all the items in my November Ipsy Glam Bag comes to roughly $36.50. I say it every month, but it’s SUCH a good deal at just $10/month. Plus there’s always a cute bag included. Can’t beat it!
