Austin Lloyd is a great new(ish) subscription box for little ones. They offer unique, high-end toys selected specifically for your child’s current “play level”. I was lucky enough to be sent a review box this past November (which I LOVED), and even luckier to have won January’s box via a blog giveaway. Woo!
Austin Lloyd is committed to providing toys that are not only engaging, but also bpa & phthalate free. None of the toys will ever require batteries and the total value of the items will always exceed the cost of your box. Awesome! Oh, did I mention that they also give you the option of sending your toys back once you’ve outgrown them so they can donate them to a charity? Yep. They do that too.
Every box contains 4-5 toys and at least 1 book. Month-to-month subscriptions are $49.99 (or less with a 6-month commitment) and shipping is always free.
The box I received was for a play level of 19-24 months. (They range from 0 months to 3 years.) January’s theme was “music” and I couldn’t wait to see what we got!
First look. Their boxes are always so pretty — definitely gift-worthy! The envelope on the left contains info cards about each product in the box. I love the personalized name tags too — such a nice touch!
My box contained 2 wooden musical instrument sets by Hape, wooden Haba blocks, and a board book. Love it!
Hape Mini Maracas – The girls loved these! They’re mini maracas constructed of solid wood and painted with child-safe, water-based paint. The beads inside make a light, gentle sound — unlike most plastic children’s instruments. The girls could shake these babies all day and it wouldn’t annoy me in the slightest. Yay for that! (Amazon Price: $11.95)
Shake it, Chloe! Shake it!
Haba Discovery Blocks Fun with Sounds – These are great! Six colorful wooden blocks that each produces its own unique sound. They click, squeak, rattle, and more. They’re also great for stacking and learning colors. I love that they’re made of wood too (except when they turn into projectiles… ouch). I’d never be able to justify paying almost $28 for a set of 6 blocks, but that’s the beauty of sub boxes — getting things I wouldn’t normally buy (and not getting yelled at for it!). (Amazon Price: $27.79)
Chicka Chicka ABC Board Book – This is a fun, colorful book with a cute little story about all of the letters of the alphabet climbing up a coconut tree. Will they all make it up there? Will W, X, Y and Z need to find a tree of their own?! You’ll just have to read it to find out! (Ooh! The suspense!!) 😉 (Amazon Price: $4.54)
Spoiler alert: They all fall down. 🙁
Hape Rhythm Set – This set includes two different wooden instruments: a clapper and a guiro (thanks, Amazon!). I really like the fun rainbow stripes on these. Again, unlike plastic instruments, the sounds these produce are totally tolerable. A+. (Amazon Price: $10.88)
Ev hasn’t quite gotten the hang of how to use ’em yet, but she’ll get there. The Rose family band’ll be rockin’ the house in NO time. See my contact page to book us. 😉
I’d say the January Austin Lloyd box was a total win for us. Everything was totally age appropriate and of excellent quality. The total of all the items (using Amazon prices) comes to $55.16, which is more than the monthly cost of the box. Always a plus.

Chloe was bummed that her face wasn’t in the photos above. So there. Chloe’s face. 😉
Disclosure: I received this box as part of a giveaway prize. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Amazon prices subject to change. Post contains affiliate links.

If it makes you feel any better… in the hardcover (longer) version of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom there’s a second part where they all get patched by their parents/aunts/uncles and then sneak out in the middle of the night to climb the tree again! 😀
