Conscious Box tiiiime!
For any newbs out there (hi!), Conscious Box is a monthly subscription box that features eco-friendly/natural products. Items range from healthy snacks, to natural toothpaste, and everything in between. There are 3 different boxes to choose from: The Vegan Box (which I get), The Gluten-Free Box, and the Classic Box. All boxes are $19.95/month, but you can almost always find a coupon code — often up to 50% off!
This month’s box felt really heavy, which is odd for a Conscious Box, so I couldn’t wait to open it. What was inside? Let’s take a gander!
MelanSol 100% Natural Sunscreen – This is what was making the box so heavy! It’s a FULL SIZE sunscreen! It’s all natural and gluten free. Sadly, it’s not vegan, as it contains beeswax and lanolin. This isn’t the only product in my box that isn’t vegan, so I’m wondering if there was a mix up with boxes. I won a gluten-free box in a giveaway last month, so now I’m thinking maybe this is the g-free one? But if that’s the case, then I’m missing my regular vegan one… Hmm… I’ll look into it. Anywhooo… This sunscreen sells for $29.99 on Amazon, so it’s definitely worth more than the cost of the entire box!
Two Degrees Bar in Chocolate Banana – I’ve gotten these bars before and they’re pretty tasty. I’m not sure if I’ve tried this flavor, but I’m sure I’ll dig it. Not only are these bars vegan & gluten-free, but for every bar purchased, one is given to a child in need. Coolio!
Nature’s Bakery Raspberry Fig Bar – These have also been in quite a few sub boxes over the last few months. I’m always happy to see it though, cos it’s all natural, vegan, made with whole grains, and tastes fantabulous.
RawJuvenate Organic Vegan Protein Powder – I’ve been hoping for some more protein powder samples cos I’ve been making smoothies every dang day. It’s always nice to give ’em a little extra oomph!
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts – I’ve had these before and I like them more than I thought I would. They’re perfect to sprinkle over your granola for a dose of fiber & protein.
Sappo Hill Glyceryne Creme Soap – Vegan/cruelty-free natural soap made with plant oils and 100% organic oats. It’s supposed to smell like oatmeal cookies when you lather it up. Yum.
The Good Bean Roasted Chickpeas – I’ve gotten these in a bunch of different boxes and I tried to like ’em. Nope, still don’t. I wish I did though, they’d make a great healthy snack. Eh, what can ya do.
Mighty Leaf Tea – I received 3 different flavors: Organic Mint Melange, Organic Earl Gray, and Organic Spring Jasmine. What’s a sub box without some tea? Luckily, I’m a fan.
Runa Ginger-Citrus Guayusa Tea – The package says that this tea “offers a clear, focused energy by balancing as much caffeine as one cup of coffee with twice the antioxidants of green tea”. Whatever, I just like ginger-citrus flavor. That’s enough for me. 😉
BumBoosa Bamboo Baby Wipe – Yet another item that I’ve gotten a TON of in sub boxes. I spose that’s good though, since each packet contains just one baby wipe. These are made with real bamboo and I’ll totally wipe a butt with it.
Flora Flor-Essence Dietary Supplement – This is a one-dose supplement that’s supposed to “gently detox your body”. I’m not sure how much detoxifying one little dose can do, but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to take it. (Uh, right?!)
SmartyPants Gummy Vitamins – Here’s another non-vegan item (gelatin). Again, I’m hoping this is actually the gluten-free box.
MRM Cram Alertness Supplement – This is supposed to “maintain alertness, focus and reaction time”. I’m not a huge fan of supplements, but at least it’s vegan.
So that’s my January Vegan (Gluten-Free?) Conscious Box!
Aside from the non-vegan items, it was a pretty decent selection of products. It was nice to see a full size (and expensive!) item, vegan or not.
Wanna try Conscious Box out for yourself? You’re in luck, cos right now you can get your first box FREE when you click here and use the code “FREEONE” (just pay shipping)!
Disclosure: I purchased this box on my own. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post contains affiliate links.

I received the same “vegan” box that you did. I am most upset about the sunscreen, because besides not being vegan, I am allergic to lanolin. I actually canceled my Conscious Box subscription about a year ago and they continue to send me boxes. I am not paying for them and they are not fixing the error (I have called and e-mailed), so I don’t even care at this point. To me the boxes are not worth the money, especially when there are such better vegan boxes out there.

Well at least you’re getting them for free. That’s crazy. I wonder how long they’ll keep sending them before they notice? I do agree that they’re not worth what they charge. That’s why I always post the free box code and encourage people to subscribe with half off codes when they offer ’em. They’re usually pretty good about catching non-vegan things, so I’m surprised that they goofed this time.

Wow, I had quite a few variations in my Vegan Jan 2014 box! Many of the same samples, but I was surprised at how much our boxes vary. Check out what I received in my blog post 🙂 How long have you been subscribing? I’ve had a pretty good experience with them so far (started in September 2013 I think); renewing today actually! 😉

I was bummed about the non-vegan stuff in January’s box and 2 missing products. 🙁 I’m usually pretty happy with them though. I’m hoping this month’s is better!

I just found this site and think I am in love with this sub box! Thanks to your discount code I just ordered my first one! I’ve heard a lot about sub boxes before but because I’m also vegan I’ve always stayed away. I am happy to see there are ones I could get and i am so excited for my Conscious box!!
Wendy Rose
Yay! Conscious Boxes tend to be hit or miss, so hopefully yours is a good one! Also, Vegan Presence is a great sub for vegans. I’ll have a review of this month’s box up in a few days. 🙂 Oh, and I have a list of vegan-friendly subs under the “Reviews Aplenty” tab, in case you haven’t checked it out yet. 😀

Just curious. Once you have tried the product received in a box, how often do you purchase them afterwards? In other words, do you find they have items that are worth getting again?
Wendy Rose
There’s usually at least one item in each box that I end up buying again. Some of my favorites from past Conscious Boxes were Beanfield’s chips, Jack n’ Jill natural toothpaste, Hail Mary macaroons, and a few of the snack bars I’ve gotten. 🙂
