Ecocentric Mom recently switched from a monthly box to an every-other-month box. I was a little bummed about it at first, but I’m kinda happy about the change now. It saves me money and gives me more time to use up the products before the next box arrives.
As always, I received the “Mom & Baby” box this month. The other two options available are a “Mom-to-Be Box” and just a plain ol’ “Mom” box. Subscriptions are $24/box, but they often have discount codes available that are often good for the life of your sub. (I was able to score a discounted subscription not too long ago and now my boxes are only $18/month. Not bad!)
Right now (until 2/15!), you can get 10% off a new subscription when you click here and use promo code “ECOMOM10%OFF”.
Okay, let’s see what I got!
Babybug Book – This is a cute little book/magazine for babies. It’s part of a subscription, and I received the July/August edition. It has colorful pictures, stories, and poems geared towards babies/toddlers. The pages are thick and there are no staples in the binding. I just wish we would have got a more current issue. Thankfully, I’m a big fan of turtles, so I’m kinda happy to get this one. 😉
Little Pim Spanish Bop CD – Ugh. Another Little Pim CD. I was just talking with another subscriber about how we hope to never see another one of these DVDs/CDs again… And here it is. I seriously cringed when I saw that stupid panda’s grinning face under the tissue paper. Yeah, it sells for like $14 on Amazon, and yeah, it’s probably beneficial for kiddos, but man… I’ve gotten so many of these things between regular boxes and “mystery” boxes that I just hate ’em. NO MORE LITTLE PIM!!! (Okay, I just realized that you can’t even see the panda’s mouth, so I dunno if he’s grinning… So… Whatever. I still hate him.)
Branam All Natural Tooth Gel – I’ve gotten this in previous boxes before as well. However, I’m totally fine with that. I love using all natural products like this for the girls and thanks to sub boxes, I don’t think we’ll ever need to go out and buy toothpaste for the next year (or longer).
Nurturmeals Powdered Food Packets – Yet another product I’ve gotten a zillion times. Unfortunately, my girls straight-up refused to eat this stuff when I made it for them. Which is a shame, cos I had like a dozen of these at one point (I ended up trading them). I’ll probably just throw these in a smoothie for myself. But yeah, totally sick of getting these things.
Baby Powder Goat Milk Soap by O My! – As a vegan, I’m not thrilled to get goat milk soap, but since it’s not sold as a “vegan box” I can’t really complain. (I’m not sure if everyone got two samples, or if I just got a bonus one?) All soaps by O My! are handmade using all natural ingredients.
Pretty Mommies Let’s Be Clear Facial Cleanser – Woah. This facial cleanser sells for $30! It’s all natural and totally safe to use while pregnant. It’s free of artificial fragrances and other nasties.
Sjaak’s Organic Fair Trade Chocolate Hearts – This was probably my favorite item(s) in the box! I *think* these are vegan (based on the color of the foil/the descriptions on the site). I just reviewed a bunch of yummy (vegan!) Sjaak’s chocolates and actually have a giveaway up right now! If you know what’s good for you (uh, chocolate!), you’ll go enter! 🙂
Tender Tush by Healthy Houseful – I’m SO glad I read the label first, cos I definitely thought this was a lip balm. Nope! It’s a butt balm. Slight difference. It’s made with natural ingredients and is safe for cloth diapers.
Baby Breathe Easy by Honey Pot Herbals – A handcrafted, all natural salve to sooth baby’s congestion.
Naked Baby Bottom Massage Oil by Grass Roots Essential Living – Massage oil for baby made with organic/fair trade ingredients.
Oogaa Baby Mealtime Spoon – Yep, another repeat. I’ve gotten at least 3 of these between regular and mystery boxes. At least this one’s a different design (tugboat). It’s a great product and all, but I’d really like to see something new.
So that’s my January Ecocentric Mom “Baby” box. Was it awful? No. Did I expect more? Yup.
The more items I reviewed, the more I realized just how many were in previous boxes. Value-wise, it’s totally worth the cost — the cleanser alone was worth $30 — so that’s not an issue. I just hoped to find more “new” things. Words can’t express how much I detest Little Pim at this point. Enough already! Same goes for NurturMeals and Oogaa spoons. Let’s mix it up, Ecocentric Mom!
That said, they’re currently offering a new “Mystery Box” that promises $100 worth of product for $40. Normally I would totally snatch one up, but after seeing this box, I think I’m gonna have to pass. 🙁
Disclosure: I purchased this box on my own. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post contains affiliate/referral links.

I don’t get many boxes, so I haven’t had the duplicate product problem. I absolutely love everything in the box but the Nurturmeals. I never really feed my baby “baby food” or purees, except applesauce. We just feed him what we are eating after smushing it a bit.
I will probably just give them away. How did you go about trading items?
I am interested in getting the Mom box too. Anyone get this version of Ecocentric?
Ashley
I was wanting to get in on that mystery box you mentioned, but since I’m not currently subscribed the link takes me to an “access denied” page. Is it only for current members who get the monthly boxes?
Wendy Rose
Hmmm… I’m not sure if it’s members only. It just might be. Either way, I don’t think there are currently any mystery boxes up for sale. They announce them sporadically throughout the year and they tend to sell out pretty fast!

I was really excited to purchase the Ecocentric box, but when I entered the coupon code it states that no coupon code exists. :/
Wendy Rose
Aw, I’m sorry. This review is a year old and that code has since expired. 🙁 It’s definitely a great box though, even at full price!
