Ipsy is a beauty subscription that sends subscribers a monthly “Glam Bag” full of cosmetics and beauty accessories. This is my fourth month with them (you can see my other reviews here).
When you sign up, you take a “beauty quiz” to determine your likes/dislikes, makeup preferences, etc. This helps Ipsy learn which products to send in your Glam Bag. Each bag will contain 4-6 full sized and deluxe sample sized products from top cosmetics brands.
Ipsy is only $10/month and offers a nice rewards program that gives you points for reviewing your products and referring friends to join. Points can be redeemed for “bonus items” in your next bag. Awesome!
Ipsy sends a lot of different variations each month, so you’ll see that other subscribers got totally different products than you did. Hopefully your beauty quiz answers match you with products that most meet your needs… But honestly, even if I only get a couple items that “fit” me, I still consider it a good value since many of them are deluxe samples or full sized. You almost always get your money’s worth (and then-some)!
Let’s see what goodies July’s bag brought…
This month’s theme was “Sensationally Sunkissed”. For whatever reason, all I could think of when I saw the image above was this…
…an IUD. Yeeah… Moving on…
The Bag – This month’s bag was very pink and very BRIGHT. It had a horrible plastic/chemical smell when I first opened it, but it seems to have aired out and actually doesn’t smell at all. Good thing, cos I was close to tossing it.
Elizabeth Mott Tints & Sass Lip & Cheek Stain – Full sized! This is a cherry-scented lip stain that can also be used to give your cheeks a little color. It has a spill-proof bottle with a sponge-tip applicator. I love the cherry scent — reminds me of the lip glosses I used as a pre-teen. I’m not a fan of lip stains, so I’m thinking I’ll try this for my cheeks for a little rosy glow. (Amazon Price: $22.99!)
Pur-Lisse Pur-Protect SPF 30 Sunscreen – Pur-Lisse has been everywhere lately! I just got this same product in my Citrus Lane box and I’ve seen it reviewed in others as well. It’s a daily moisturizer with the protection of SPF 30 sunscreen. It’s lightweight and great for normal to dry skin. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, because I have sooo many lotions, but I’ve seen nothing but positive reviews. (Amazon price: roughly $4.78 for this 0.5 oz size)
Pop Beauty Sunkissed Bronzer in “Secret Sunshine” – Full sized! I’m not very into bronzers (I’m super pale, but I just kinda deal), so I won’t be using this for that purpose. BUT this can also be used as an eyeshadow, which I didn’t realize until I read the description on Ipsy’s site. Yay for versatility! (Amazon Price: $7.75)
Bare Minerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow in “Divine Wine” – This is a cream eyeshadow with an SPF 15 to product your delicate lids from UVA/UVB rays. It helps to smooth fine lines and lasts up to 12 hours. (Amazon Price: roughly $6.61 for this 1 mL size)
Faith Aromatherapy Citrus/Ginger Anti-Oxidant Body Lotion – This stuff smells a-maaazing! I love anything with a citrus scent and the addition of ginger makes me love it all the more. It not only locks in moisture with shea butter, but also “uplifts the senses” with its essential oil blend. (Retail Price: Roughly $2.12 for this 1 oz size)
The total of all the items in my July Ipsy bag comes to $44.25. Holy crapola! I guess it’s not surprising, since the lip stain alone sells for $23. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this is definitely one of the most valuable subscription “boxes” out there. SO worth $10/month!

The bronzer was the one item I was hoping to get this month….but didn’t. Got the same bare minerals, and Elizabeth Mott product you got….but then I also got a little tiny tube of acne stuff (no idea why as acne products are NOT selected on my quiz) and tanning oil that I won’t use…. My final product was nailtini nail polish. I really wish Ipsy would stop sending me nail polish as I’m very particular about polish and won’t use any of the colors they have sent me during the last eight months. I always give nail polish the lowest rating on the reviews and they keep sending it anyway…..sigh…. I also got the purlisse in my recent citrus lane box…I like it though and wouldn’t have minded getting another from Ipsy….love reading your reviews on Ipsy and seeing what you get..

Yeah, it’s weird that they send stuff on your “heck no, I won’t use that” list… I never use bronzer, so was bummed to get it until I saw it can be used as a shadow too. Yet I love nail polish, but have yet to get any from them. I guess it’s not a perfect system. Still totally worth the $10/bag for what you get though. Glad you like my reviews! 🙂
